Ade Bakare Presents the 2nd Young Designers Creative Competition
For as long as we can remember, Ade Bakare has been at the forefront of the international Nigerian designer movement. Mr. Bakare has been a worthy fashion ambassador over the decades and now he is building things at home. On Saturday March 7th 2009, the 2nd Young Designers Creative Competition will take place.
For young designers interested in entering the competition:
Submit 2 illustrations (fashion drawings) 1st Day wear for a lady attending a special function in the afternoon using Ankara but can be combined with other fabrics and trimming designs should be colourful and evocative of the Nigerian woman. Knee length dress.
2nd design should be for an evening, red carpet function. A long glamorous dress using any indigenous Nigerian fabric with trimmings and other fabrics.
Entrants must be between the ages of 18 and 25 only
Illustrations are to be in colour with front and back views, with fabrics swatches attached.
Entrants should write a 500 words biography on themselves and fashion and attach a personal photograph.
Deadline for submission is 24th of February, 2009.
Finalists will be notified.
All submissions should have entrants name, address and phone number written at the back of the illustrations, drawings should be on A4 paper size only.
They can be posted or submitted to the Ade Bakare Couture Boutique in Lagos Sandiland Arcade, 230, Muri Okunola street, Victoria Island, Lagos. Nigeria.
Finalists would be contacted and have their designs made and shown in front of Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, the first lady of Lagos state, Nigeria and an esteemed audience.
Attendance is strictly by invitation (A limited number of tickets will be sold at the Lagos boutique. Ticket price is N10000)
