They say you know you are hot when you’ve got people talking. Fati Asibelua‘s MOMO has done just that – From New York to London – fashion watchers are debating. At their showings in New York and more recently at London’s On/Off Fashion Week, MOMO focused on delivering a cohesive collection that suited the Fall/Winter Season. Some called it boring and drab but some fashion insiders applauded – one fashion buyer noted that “Given the state of the economy, buyers are weary of new designers – much more savvy and selective, this is a collection could potentially sell, its wearable and relevant”.

For this collection, top models including Jourdan Dunn and Alek Wek walked down the catwalk in knits and jersey in muted colours like grey and taupe then added a little bit of spice with latex headgear and tights. The collection was well-received by the London crowd and that was it.

Alas, there is more to this tale, a few days after MOMOs London showing; fashion legend Giorgio Armani unveiled Armani’s Fall/Winter 2009 collection and guess what? We spotted grey and taupe knits topped off with latex hats.
Thinking on the same wavelength as Armani must be the ultimate compliment for a budding fashion label so kudos to MOMO.
