Lanre DaSilva opens new store + launches Ready-to-Wear Collection

Lanre DaSilva recently opened a new store and launched a Ready- to -Wear collection. The new store is undoubtedly a client’s haven; finely furnished with exquisite taste and an impeccable eye to create the allure of a store that’s not only welcoming but as expressive as LDA designs!

And as for the Ready -to -Wear collection, in capturing the aesthetic of the LDA label the collection in essence is very girly and ladylike. LDA designs can be quite selective, as in most cases, her pieces require a certain amount of boldness and character to successfully pull them off, without the personality of the design dominating that of the wearer. However, with this Ready- to -Wear collection, while some pieces are quite daring, there are also pieces which aren’t as selective. They still remain equally as captivating due to the fabric choices and the delibrate “charismatic” details.
The collection consists mostly of dresses and a few single pieces with flattering and dramatic cuts, delicate floral fabrics, embroidery and feminine details like trims and bows. The collection also features sharply tailored jackets, with drama created by the wide lapels. The vintage appeal of LDA designs are present and are seen through the puffy and ruched sleeves and also the decorative buttons.
The neckline, bodice and sleeves are a major focus point with the pieces in this collection. She features dresses with bib, bow and button details on the bodice, peter pan round collars, and wide notch and peak lapels. With the sleeves, she presents a variety, from sleeveless blazers and dresses, to cap sleeves and a long sleeved Victorian inspired sleeve.
A popular trend in the 1800’s, Tartan seems to be the domineering fabric, complemented by checks and stripes. The Peter Pan collar, which appeals to women of all ages combined with check and tartan is reminiscent of a little school girl; Suggestive of innocence, in a classic, simple, and ladylike way.

she is my fav naija designer.
Ijeoma Chiori’s hair is too fly!
????….d outfits do nothing 4 me…
In as much I have learnt that no matter the little effort anyone puts into doing anything they should be commended but with Lanre one thing I have always failed to recognise is her brand, there is no clear cut style to her designs. With the likes of Tiffany Amber you can recognise her dress same for Jewel by Lisa, she needs to work on her brand designs you cant just say this is a Lanre dress
Nice store, but the designs and finishing of these “costumes” are atrocious, some of them look like school uniforms… and she showcased most of these designs many seasons ago, appears to me like she is running out of ideas or should i say that the Victoria engine has run out of steam!
what’s with the school uniform inspiration..sorry but that’s all i see
Nice one…but where’s it located?
she’s SO badass! we’ve just blogged about her AMAZING collection @ Arise Africa Fashion Week…her pieces are well worth checking out!

xo
clothes and material are very primark standard. she shd be able to do better if she is charging so much. maybe her clients have to give her their own designs for her quality to come out
Ditto my dear, not working…
my thots exactly… whats up with that particular fabric anyway?
Where is this store?
@ yenge……..her hair is just on point!!
I love the vintage feel to the outfits, very authentic, speaks volumes
oooh! i just love this woman and her cloths!
Haba!!!! i know its ur opinion but c’mon primark standard??? thats way off the mark darling!
Its called tartan luv and im sure if u walked into Topshop in London and saw it u wldnt have a problem with it but right here u dont thing its nigerian or naija enuf abi? i see a lot of ignorance going on around here, no offence!
That being said I looked at some of her other work from the fashion week – way way better! I think you’ve just shown the crap ones on here.
while i do not like the outfits in this collection.. i am a big fan of LDA..i lurve her designs….and she definitely has more talent than the costumes (as someone put it-lol) that were showcased here…. funny enuff, i always recognize her designs when i see them….however, I dont think it necessary for a designer to put themselves in a box and churn out similar styles time after time..i think there is the need for diversity…see micheal Kors for example you can never pinpoint his work cos he has different assortment.
Copy cat designs for real….It may fly for you guys in naija as its all about status isnt it?
Her store is Dolphin extension. Her clothes are not primark standard at all. They easily stand up to Tiff Amber/LBJ etc. Beautifully cut and sewn.
LDA’s clothes are just amazing beautiful. what rubbish is this, I hear about primark? Primark’s clothes are of the poorest quality with no variety in range. LDA, however produces unique, distinctive collection everytime.
THE INTERIORS ARE AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL…
LDA has the bleeding lip…shebi dats wat Bella calld it…
The designs are gorgeous but she could’ve got better models :S
All, I think this designs are lovely. A lot of work has gone into it. Be proud of what you have. We are all Nigerians and this is our work. Oyinbo will use leave and made cloth you will buy. Please wake up.
