Behold the Queen of Madagascar: Eric Raisina Spring/Summer 2010 @ ARISE Promise
We can call Eric Raisina the wildcard among the ARISE Promise of Africa Collective, a rising designer who had his first major international showing at the Johannesburg ARISE Fashion Week earlier this year. Eric Raisina’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week named ‘Honeymoon In Madagascar’ was indeed a royal treat. A rich melange of pieces inspired by his homeland and his time spent living in Asia. Raisina’s use of rich silks in bright jewel tones combined with innovative fabric techniques was the recipe for a winning combination – the designer’s background as a master of textiles was evident. Our favourite piece was the red halter necked ra-ra top clenched at the waist with a studded black belt and teamed with shorts worn by Chanel Iman. Chanel was a perfect choice to model this stunning piece as she embodied the ‘afroasiaque’ theme of the collection. A commercially viable yet exciting collection. Bravo Eric!
