Duro Olowu Spring 2010 RTW @ London Fashion Week

Like designers Marchesa and Victoria Beckham did at the recently concluded New York Fashion Week; designer Duro Olowu opted out of a catwalk show and instead focused on an intimate showcase of his Spring 2010 Ready to Wear collection at London Fashion Week yesterday. Olowu who won New Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2005 is renowned for his creative use of print and this was very evident in his collection. According to Olowu, the inspiration for this collection was “The colours of Picasso’s ‘Mosqueteros’ paintings; feather textiles of ancient Peru; 125th Street in Harlem, New York.” – a true cultural melange. There was something impeccably romantic and soft about Olowu’s collection yet practical enough for the average woman to rock confidently. Photos below:

What are sensible prints and designs?
Maybe you should produce a brochure and send it to all the top designers in the world so they know what they are allowed to create.

Duro’s dresses are sold all over the world and only at the BEST boutiques with an average ticket price of $1500 for a dress, so while you might consider his clientele “clowns” they are rich clowns and he is laughing all the way to the bank.

Hopefully you will have similar luck with your “real and sensible prints and designs” manifesto.

I do agree with browncoco a lot of the designs look clownish…but then one man’s meat is another’s poison…and it probably makes sense to some people….

Dont get me wrong these designs are not my style, far from it, but I dont consider the people that would choose them “clowns”. Its only fashion.

To be fair to him, these pictures are AWFUL. Have a look at the images on style.com if you want a better view.
