New Music: Darey – Stroke Me

Its been a roller-coaster ride for Darey in 2009. He reinvented himself from Dare Art-Alade to international soul musician Darey. Released a slew of high budget videos and won a bunch of awards.
Some questioned it, some hated it and many loved it.
Now Darey is preparing for new onslaught in 2010. He will be releasing his 3rd album as well as officially launching himself in the international market.
Darey has just released the first single from third album. The song is entitled ‘Stroke Me‘. The song is produced by Don Jazzy with support from Soul Muzik duo of Del B and Password.

I like the tango feel to it but that’s about it. I could totally just listen to the beat without his words….which personally is a little immature. You are either going to be vulgar or you are not…..the “hmmm” was unnecessary.
I mean as much as you would like to see naija artists enter the international market, he definitely is not going anywhere close with this single….Nigerians need to be unique, give people a reason to want to listen to your track/album, give them something they have never heard before. Don’t try & copy usher cos there are a thousand of him here, one just has to poop for another usher to pop out.

Hey people, Dareys music is edgy. To compete in the world out there any artist would require an edge. Look at chart toppers like B.E.P, Lady Gaga or Jay Z. What makes them “better” that’s if they are indeed better? Nigerians are known worldwide for our “can do” attitude and now Its time to take the world stage just like Femi Kuti and others blah blah blah…mouth dey pain me jare!!! Kpscheww…
Not bad.. It has a broadway feel to it… I think what Darey needs is a good producer. He obviously has talent, he just needs to know who his target audience is. Nothing wrong with doing your own thing Darey; but, it would be even better if you could also make music that is more commercial in nature. Music that is not so fine in taste.
All in all, this is not a bad song by any stretch. BTW Darey, charity begins at home. Peace.
Very creative music Dareyyyy knows what he wants his music to sound like. Keep it up Dareyyy, someday it will pay off.

This is a good work and an absolute positive statement of Donjazzy’s creative capability. I wish Darey is able to locate the right market and audience for this material. It would make a good impact. Congrats to you Darey and God bless this work. Its Donjazzy again !!!!!!!
