The Miss World beauty pageant, one of the oldest and most prestigious beauty pageants. Since 1959, a queen has been crowned by the Miss World organization to promote various causes and carry out charity work. Many famous women including India’s Aishwarya Rai and Nigeria’s Agbani Darego have won the crown.
This year, the pageant is being held in South Africa for the 7th time since the pageant’s inception.
Africa is being represented by 18 beautiful ‘queens’ from across the continent.
The Miss World crown has been won by only 3 Africans in the past. Penelope Anne Coelen of South Africa in 1958, Anneline Kriel of South Africa in 1974 (the original Miss World 1974 resigned so Anneline took her place) and of course, Agbani Darego of Nigeria in 2001.
However, its significant to note that the 2 South African wins were during aparthied and Agbani is the only black African to ever win the Miss World title.
Back to the present, which of thee girls have the potential to win the Miss World 2009 crown?
The finale will be held on Saturday 12th December 2009 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Miss Nigeria, Miss Tanzania and Miss Ghana just look like everyday, regular gals, i think Miss S.A would go far. But, seriously we have more beautiful girls in Africa, most of them are not “beauty queens”.

miss zimbabwe’s outfit is hideous, too over the top, cheap and local, hair and make up inclusive. miss zambia’s outfit makes no sense. miss tanzania is cute but im not feeling the dress. miss nigeria is a shame! and i blame her nigerian guardians, her hair looks like its 4 weeks old, her dress does no justice to her figure, everything about her is just wrong. mama mia! i love miss angola…, was miss bostwana’s dress made from scrap metal?, love miss ghana’s dress, love miss mauritius’ dress and figure

ah ah, her hair does not look 4 weeks old. I think it should have been a lot more realistic though. These judges know that’s not her real hair, so of course their assessment of her (and others with fake hair) will be skewed. I do think that she is a pretty girl. She appears to have little make up on but her face remains naturally pretty. Bottom line you guys who have liver should compete for MBGN. The Beautiful ones don’t compete abi?

They all look beautiful. But those who stand out to me are Ghana, Namibia, Angola, Kenya & Ethiopia. Nigeria is beautiful too but that dress looks too plain on her.
