I am sorry but I do not agree with you, I work in the music industry also and I think the songs mix captures the raw indie sound and style the group are going for. This is not a Afro-beat song so the approach to the mixing will be different. In regards to the song the concept is quirky and fun, they mispronounce the parable deliberately as stated in their various interviews online. I think its a shame that when we have a beautiful female group representing Naija they are met with such harsh criticism, especially as we do not have many high profile female Naija artist in the game. the fact is the most current Naija artists (mostly male) lack creativity and are just following the same formula/trends of the artists that are hot at the moment! They are either trying to sound American like 50 cent & Jay-z or they are singing with a ridiculous amount of special autotune effects to mask their limited singing abilities. What this girl group is doing requires raw talent and the ability to be creative, they are nothing like what we currently have in Nigeria and we should embrace them and support their project as they develop their sound. The video is amazing and they look great, I hope they achieve world recognition and put Nigeria on the map in a positive light.

Interesting song (and choice for a debut single...), still I totally support this project.

I must admit this is the first time I have heard of these 3 ladies. I am a music producer (Nigerian, based in Europe), so I "must" comment on the musical aspect.
As mentioned, the song is unconventional (for the means of a better word), video is good (not great, but for a debut single, above average), but the mix is poorly. The vocals are very "dry" and could have been integrated in to the mix much better. And pls, what's up with the cheap sounding guitar amp in the chorus??
The ladies should have a word with their management and reconsider their approach. What is the use of getting a high class video director to shoot the video to a demo-recording class song?
I know that we Nigerians would like to do our things properly and have the best, so the fact that I see three young sisters trying to do something big and then get such a low budget song irritates me. There is absolutely no reason for this and I'm sure the video cost more than the production, recording, mix AND mastering put together...

This is my opinion from the technical/producer side. Other than that, I don't see why Shiikane should not be up there with all the other current acts.

I totally support my Nigerian ladies and wish them all the best for the future, but pls, get another producer and/or sound engineer. Compared to the video, the mix of the song was close to apoorling, I'm sorry to say.

This is not a matter of wanting people to lie, its more a case of expecting constructive criticism so that they can make improvements and tweak their act. To say this is the 'worst song ever' shows that you have a very limited perspective on Naija musical acts (as I have heard a lot worse songs from our country men)
lacking the ability to support your own is the exact reason why progression is slow in Naija, Sade, Seal, Shirley basey, lead singer of Block party and so many other international Naija artists had to make it big outside of Naija for us to claim them and be proud, I see shiikane doing the same thing.

In response to the bamboo/baboon comments: This was intentional (the phrase change is just a bit of tongue-in-cheek as a very close family member used to say it like that). They know what the original phrase is.
It is such a shame to see all the negative comments especially from their fellow Nigerians. keep up the great work Shiikane!!

I must say I agree with 'HaHaHa' most of these comments are total rubbish! these girls are a class act, yes its true that they need to make improvements on their image and perfect their sound but what new artist is exempt from facing the same hurdles? lets think before we speak my people........and the weave comments are VERY funny, I am a Naija babe and pride myself on having good weaves, but I am sorry to say but most African women do not get it right, I think the sisters looks great and I for one am happy that we are getting a varied representation of what a Nigerian female looks/sounds like. cant wait for the album ladies!

LOL! I got2 say many of you are talking from d ass! What Naija artist(s) do you know that have come out with a 1st single and video like this?? Come on people, credit where due, and it is due here! Plus, not an OUNCE of auto-tune in this song PRAISE be to God. I think this sounds more UK Indie though. Naija's will follow eventually when it's hot everywhere else in the world! Cos we are so SLOW to "get it" Well I'm a Nigerian and I like it, most of you will "get it" soon don't worry, take your time lol!

Okaaaaay, think your comments are little over the top, most Nigeria artists load their vocals with autotune or try and rap with fake american accents lol! At least this group is staying true to the British- Naija heritage. There always room for improvement, but to call this the worst Naija song you have heard is a lil rash. I really hope this group blow, their mixtape is amazing and proves that they CAN sing and are very talented, do your research before you criticize!
