Posted on Friday, January 22nd, 2010 at 5:43 AMBy BellaNaija.com
Everyone acknowledges that Timi Dakolo is a great vocalist. Ever since he won West African Idol some years ago, we’ve been rooting for his career to fly.
Timi is ready to shine in 2010 and now he has released his first video and its for the song – “I Love You” Featuring Chocolate City’s Jesse Jagz.
The video has an interesting storyline, it features Timi as an aviation student with a strict yet attractive female tutor. His classmates include rappers Zara, Ice Prince and Jesse Jagz. However, there is something about Timi that stands out – he and his teacher start to get it on! You’ll just have to watch the video to get the rest of the gist.
The video is directed by Bobby Boulders with styling by Yetunde Alabi and Hauwa Mukan. Check on it!

i love this song…it is soooooo different…well done Timi and i miss Nigeria too…sniff…sniff…
Timi, your songs are solid and you’ve got actual musical gifts. Would love for you to do an indigenous number….Wishing you success.
Hauwa looks so cute in this video
and I LOVE Timi’s voice!
Loves it!!!….
YAAAYYYYY! lovely vocals and lovely video. had a god laugh at d end. been waiting 4 this.
..and i’m glad that a good video can still be made in LAGOS!
I am inclined to believe that the ppl on that notjustok.com page are paid to bring things down and lose their objectivity along with their minds! Timi well done! This is a good job for a first video!
What can I say Timi has really nice vocals, will definitely take him places if he keeps working at it. nice concept, the video I mean. Although I thought they could have done without the part with them doing jumping jacks in the beginning. they looks kinda silly. Also whatever happened to a windmachine, or a fan at least and some good human hair, the girls hair hardly moved when she took her hair clip out and shook her hair. definitely ruined the effect. she is pretty too very good at being stiff, she should have moved and danced with him when he was dancing with her inside of just moving side to side and touching her hair.
hahahah when she flips her weave!
wish they had entered the plane hahaha
Ermm… Champagne bucket with no ice??! Just saying!
i i i iiiii love u timi!
Great vocals, undeniable talent..sadly, zero ‘swag’ ‘charisma’ The video camera does not like him.
i dnt get ohh.y wud timi do this .how can his management allow him release this as a FIRST SINGLE(LEAD) …hate to say this timi is too talented to b pushing stuff like this out.it would neva b a hit on the radio(no b swear)..damn timi y now
Unfortunately for u,ur prayers/curses will get no approval! The song is a major hit on radio stations! If u want to address Timi’s management, pls send them a mail and prolly include the fact that u can do a better job! And by the way, where in hell have u bn?! Why didn’t u speak up for him since? The guy has finally come out with something all on his own,no record label, nothing! And this is the encouragement he gets! Why don’t u put ur money where ur big damn mouth is and support the guy with just ur time and or money, and let’s see the magic u can work! Nonsense!
very nice enjoyed the video
This is nice. My own know-it-all comments below:
The baby got back. I like it.
M.I. is so fly.
Exciting how Timi Dakolo is just flying, after the win, just doing good collaborations.
Chocolate City got quality. They just need to keep doing more of this. I’m proud of them, and I’m entertained.
Do you live in Nigeria or listen to the radio there?
He sounds so much like seal- very nice and smooth. The sky is the limit Timi, keep forging on- this is only the beginning!
wowwwwww timi what took you so long
whareva guys, he’s still d best! and big up for not giving up despite d challenges. but i still prefer timi on a stage with a mic in his hands!
this is not timi. They have commercialised him into a drone. Timi come back.
@femi u gotta b shittn me.d song is a major hit(wow what part of nigeria am i in)better still what part of lagos am i located.i for one think timi is one of d most talented people eva bt dt dnt mean i should nt speak out when i feel he is makin a wrong career move.he had betta songs out that videos cudda been made(i.e heaven can wait or the let it shine song)…noo need to take it personal if your part of timis management just come out and say so that i can tell u THAT YOU HAVE DONE A SHITTY JOB SO FAR…your makin references to RECORD label(pls who still has record labels backing them in nigeria)other than storm ,mohits, et al..besides a large chunk of the really succesfull artists are doing it on their own..its people like you that always mislead people .did i mention dt the song was crap?no it just dosnt have that fire to push people to go out and get the record
I love this song, Jesse Jags was too much while Timi was just too splendid
If this is what took the boy so long i bet it was well worth it,i beg to say it justifies why he won Omawunmi in the first place, you can’t beat this splendid job, vocally terrific…The boy stuck to his style of music,he did not follow the autotune majority, that’s what a true star is made of.
i love his voice…he reminds me of Music Soul child
pls this is good.. johna stop being a pessimist.. and if u cnt support him just shut it! timi shows class with his voice and delivery.. pitch perfect.. we need more competitions to get talent like his and slowly remove the talentless artistes we have right now from the market.
i will never stop loving ur oice timi…..u so great…
