Stars as Paupers – MI, Stella Damasus, Joke Silva, Basketmouth, Kelechi & Zizi depict Life on the Other Side
Posted on Thursday, April 15th, 2010 at 12:01 AMBy BellaNaija.com
Basketmouth as a drug addict living on the streets…
Stella Damasus as a homeless single mother…
Joke Silva as a dustbin scavenger…
These striking images form a part of the “Switch A Future” campaign – a campaign created by Interswitch in collaboration with the Freedom Foundation.
Basically, Interswitch gives a portion of their revenues when users use the ATM of another bank (not their home bank).
These images are so striking and soul stirring!
Such a powerful campaign.

My name is Jude, I could have been MI the hip hop mega star, but I never got the chance. this is my life, begging on the streets, washing windows, wasting time chasing cars

I am Stella, as a child I dreamt of cameras, flashing lights and red carpets. I never got the chance. Instead I'm hungry and weary, begging to feed my child. This is not a movie, this is my life

If a picture is worth a thousand words I have lost my voice. My name is kelechi, as a child I dreamt I would be an amazing photographer, but I never got the chance. This is me, homeless

I am Bright, as a child I dreamt of being '' the Basketmouth" a man filled with laughter. I never got the chance instead the streets have me filled with drugs

My name is Joke Silva, but where is my silver lining? As a child I dreamt of fame as an actress, but never got a chance. Sieving through rubbish dumps is how I find my treasure

I am Zizi, as a child I dreamt of being an amazing fashion designer, but I never got the opportunity. This is my reality, you will never see my beautiful clothes

This is an amazing and totally innovative campaign. Well done to all those involved. It has a very strong, clear message. Kudos!
A very good cause i must say. I hope we see the true dividends.
For transperency, i think interswitch should tell us how much of our N100 goes into this cause. Because already encouraging me to spend N100 on another ATM machine looks like a lot of profit motive going on there. EIsh!
This campaign was created by DM2, Uyi Omokaro’s ad agency for interswitch and photography was done by Eleanor Goodey. I know cause they are my friends. Proud of them!! Well done
God!!!!!! I totally luv this… It’s real & so touching. Am gonna be a part of this for sure!
This campaign was created by Uyi Omokaro ( Dm2) and photography by Eleanor Goodey for Interswitch.

lol basketmouth is VERY convincing…
if i use my atm at another bank interswitch will donate an unknown amount of the N100 to the NGO. i might as well give my N100 directly to the organization.
This is probably one of the best concepts i have seen in a long while!!!! kudos!
amazing concept…well executed, i would totally help switch a future after seeing this

Please stop it
great campaign! hope they achieve their goal.
teardrops! hope this does not just end up as yet another campaign though. we should be ashamed of such tags and it should give us great embarassment that we will be moved to do something about the situation in our country. its not just the leaders, how about the followers. what have you done for your country???
Stop wetin??! u be basket mouth? No come show ya leg here o! I go break bottle now!
finally!! A great advertising campaign using NIGERIAN representatives. We need more of these not useless adverts showing foreigners.
This is soooooooooo touching. I bet i need to get an interswitch card.
God bless Interswitch, Freedom foundation, and these celebs who decided to give back this way. God bless Nigeria!
wowwwwwwwwwww!nice 1
This is so so good. I must be part of this. I’m joining right away. God bless these celebrities for thinking of giving. One way or the other, we have benefitted from these celebrities even more than those who have all the means to better our lots but instead resort to milking us dry. God bless these people and God bless Nigeria.
wow!! the make-up and photography is brilliant. Absolutely fantastic concept. Go Naija, go Naija
this is so so beautiful, would never how celebrities could do this.hope this have been able to touch both the politicians and wealthy people inthe society to give and help more. God knows this will touch so many people both home and abroad, im so proud to be Nigerian

though i know all of them my heart still reaches out to the pictures because the truth is dat there are many joke silvas basket mouths and zizis who never got a chance to achieve their dreams when all they needed was a little helping hand and its sad this picture reminds me of the need to do what i can to help the less priviledged kudos to the initiators
I love this, It’s really great to see Nigerians united for a good cause.
For those who can but do not,may the souls of the departed forgive your negligence
For those who can and are doing, may the light never go down on your generation
For those who want to but can not,may your cups be filled beyond measure to do
And for us who will want to,may we never switch out of being zealous to do and
May the living never cease to help the living to live while the dead bury the dead

I guess we all need to lend our voices – and our wallets – to this and every other great cause for charity! This is really touching.
This is Great, i love everything about this. I wish we the people start working hand in hand to make this country great..rather than waiting for the Government! It takes you and I to make this world better!!! I LOVE MY COUNTRY NIGERIA!!!
