A few months ago, we received an email about a new African-inspired bridal magazine, our curiosity was piqued. After reading through the latest edition of the magazine, we can definitely give it a thumbs up. Munaluchi Bridal Magazine is the first African-inspired bridal magazine to launch in the US. The magazine is tailored for the bride who craves culture and style. It offers content covering a variety of areas including bridal fashion, reception decor and real life weddings with African flair.

According to the Publisher/Editor-In-Chief of Munaluchi, Jacqueline Nwobu – “Munaluchi Bridal is a niche magazine with a worldwide audience. The target market includes African/black females between the ages of 18-34 in the US and abroad. The publication offers readers the opportunity to easily source wedding professionals in its Diamond Directory, a listing of preferred wedding vendors. It also showcases real life African traditional weddings and the latest designs from top notch African designers. In addition, the magazine introduces “The Pearls of Africa,” which encourages honeymoon travel to Africa.

A recent study shows that the buying power of young African consumers is growing 15 times faster in the US than the traditional market. This market is one that is often times overlooked.

Great to see that the magazine has a clear focus and plan to reach their intended target group. You can buy your copy of Munaluchi at Barnes N Noble, Borders, Shoprite, Target, Kmart, HEB, and Safeway and Walgreens locations all across the US. The first issue went on sale on January 5th and by the 21st of January, over 8500 copies had been sold. The current issue, Spring/Summer 2010, will be launched in the UK via 750 stores and is also being launched in Nigeria and Ghana at select locations.
