‘Insomnia Luxe’- Chichia London A/W 2010/11 Mini Collection

Chichia London Autumn/Winter 2010/11 collection, titled ‘Insomnia luxe’ presents coveted pieces for the fashion savvy woman.
Although a mini collection, Designer Christine Mhando really stretches out the vision for this collection; sticking to their signature Khanga fabric, she displays a variety of styles; a retro jumpsuit and a blazer, playful shorts, bold dresses complemented by simple silhouettes which are combined with fresh cuts and vibrant patterns like paisley, animal print and eccentric florals.
The fabrics are accented with dazzling embellishments on the neckline, lapels and the body of the garments, which contribute a great deal to the ‘luxe’ of this mini collection. We see 80′s structured shoulders re-enforce their relevance in contemporary fashion and as for the full skirt, it sure seems like it will be extending its reign beyond the bright days of summer.

nice collection but the usage of these materials are starting to make all the designers using ankara look alike…
lovely!!!
i would wear that!
its always hilarious seeing people shout “first to comment” and they are like 3rd and 4th or even 6th. lol
I love 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8;i can easily wear them.. Good job!
Fashionistry…
Totally love these designs. Ab fab!The models gorgeous too.
Yep, I’m getting really tired of ankara(even though these ones are somewhat different)!
I love reading THE AMAKA’s comments, you sound like a fine babe…holla at guys now…
Lol…
hahahaha @ Kasaprenko, u don dey stalk THE AMAKA now abii, take note guys- this is a BN love story in the making
ehen, im surprised u guys are now talking about over-popularity of ankara, wat about Kemkem studio collection that was shown yesterday…
This is slightly different from what we see on the regular cuz this is Tanzanian ‘ankara’ and the styles are somewhat more creative
I’d wear everything in this collection but that 3rd dress is a stunner. Looks like a modified version of the purple dress from her 2010 ‘Made in Dar’ collection
updating my comment…
it’s NOT ankara
It’s ” khanga ” , an East African fabric, so it is different …
omg, sorry
yea, its her 2009 not 2010 ‘made in dar’ collection
@Kasaprenko

i should holla at who? I didn’t even know guys were on this site.

Love It!
Fabulous Collection!
Excellent Presentation!
LoVe it !!!!! One of the best use of ethnic fabric(s) by a designer, I’ve seen thus far.
The fabric used is Khanga Material from the East African Coast!
It is not Ankhara, but Khanga…google it! ; )
cheers!
You call it khanga, we call it ankara…still the same thing…as my gran mum would say ‘you tie rope for goat, you tie goat for rope, so long as goat no run….’
