This time we decided to bring things back home and we have 4 fashionistas rocking a jacket from Nigerian designer – Vonne. Vonne by Yvonne Nwosu launched in December 2009 and in just six months, they already have a ‘signature piece’, this sharp shouldered structured textured jacket. We get to see the jacket worn in 4 totally different ways – dressed up, casual, formal and totally glam.
STV Entertainment TV Presenter and Accessories designer Yvonne ‘Vixen’ Ekwere rocked the silver version of the jacket at the Tinsel party which took place at Villa Medici some months ago. Vixen paired totally dressed up the look with black skinny jeans, silver earrings, a multistrand necklace and pewter shoes.
Beth Models CEO, Elohor Aisien showed that the jacket can be toned down for a more casual look. She paired the pink version of the jacket with relaxed wash bootcut jeans, wedge heels, hoop earrings and a blue Chanel Classic Flap Bag.
Coincidentally a guest at Elohor’s recent engagement ceremony also took style inspiration from the bride. She rocked a different version of the jacket and paired it with a black pencil skirt which matched the black shoulder detail of the jacket. Black pumps completed the look.
The designer, Yvonne Nwosu rocked the jacket to the Face of Africa 2010 Finale event some months ago. Leave it to the designer to amp up the glam factor, while others paired the jacket with a more mellow bottom, she went in the opposite direction. Yvonne paired it with a flared textured coral pink skirt, a bold beaded necklace with flower details and a nude Chanel shoulder bag.

The second one would have been better with a darker hued jean. Overall, cute!

Hmmmn, don’t really care for the jacket. Its not very flattering and it makes all the wearers lok thick waisted.

Yvonne Ekwere with d skinny jeans rocked it best. She balanced d boxyness around d wide shoulders of jacket with the streamlined jeans, finishing off the look nicely.
Yvonne Nwosu, for sure pulled it off better than the others…. but this look isnt for the faint-hearted.dont care for it much though

@pretty face what do you know about fashion if i may ask????? can u pls kindly tell us what is in vogue now??cos as far as I know, speaking as a stylist ….off colours are back in vogue.. huge jacket and big skirts were sure on red carpet to see @ the emmy’s which was head in yankee this summer..so dont call a FASHION NO NO! thanks

Being a sharp shouldered a’la power puff jacket, the bottom half of it should be something slimming and simple else you ll end up looking frumpy..
. Unlike the designer and Elohor; d skirt is too big but if it was a pencil skirt even in the same fabric and colour as the flared, it would have won d rest hands down! BTW its called “Colour/Pattern Clashing”

Ermm I know its not about the jacket …. My intro before am called a hater or whatever. But can’t these designers stop stealing high street styles…. I mean they can get inspiration but to just flat out copy ……. Anyway the guest at the event looks like her tailor made her an ankara ashebi and she looks best. Am not feeling the jacket at all.
