Once again, we come back home for this edition of the feature.
We have three beautiful ladies rocking a dress by Nigerian label, Jewel by Lisa.
The dress is focus is a chic sleeved mini dress. This gold and black dress is a simple yet it’s a showstopper. With the spherical cutout details, leather-lined neckline, embellishments and ankara underlay, its the type of dress that is understated yet gets a lady noticed!
Agbani Darego rocked the dress at the Stylogenic media event earlier this year. Agbani kept her look clean and stylish as she paired the dress with minimal accessories. With her long locks styled with a fringe, her only accessory was her gold watch and she completed her look with tan platform pumps.
Designer, Lisa Folawiyo of Jewel by Lisa was understandably the first to rock this look. She wore it at the Face of Africa 2010 Finale in February 2010. Lisa accessorized with turquoise and gold earrings, a gold watch and the “piece of resistance” – the Louboutin glitter pump in black. Her flowy locks completed her look.
Finally, A model at the Fashion Auction House “Eden” event rocked this unique piece. On that day, the dress was auctioned off for charity. The model allowed the focus to rest squarely on the dress with no accessories and paired it with simple open toe black shoes.

Agbani! Her version is more fitted around the waist and highlights her shape. The others are a bit shapeless.

Not the best dress but Agbani’s must have been custom fitted. She pulls it off best.
Yeah Agbani rocked it best. Not really feeling Lisa’s pose….but Agbani too thin o..kai.
Its Lisa’s dress but Agbani killed it with her longer and leaner physique. She looks chic.

The dress makes them look like they have bulky waists. Agbani tops the list. I like that she wore a shorter version, giving it more of a serious MOD feel. then Lisa with the pop of color at the ears.

No.1 Agbani – the choice of shoe colour didnt do d dress justice..black/bronze/gold wuda done d trick, its a party dress – so u need shoes that say evening not daytime; also think its tad 2 fitted around the waist for a tunic baby doll dress like this one
For No.2 Lisa wuda likd 2 ve cn it wivout d torquiose earrings instead black drop earrings or big bronze/gold vintage clip ons with an up do for a retro look; a qtr or half an inch off the length and a more structured/smoother hair do perhaps?
No.3 like both d fit & length of the dress on her , liked 2 ve cn a different pair of shoes definitely – black round toe platforms? The dress with no earrings or hair do doesnt do it justice.
Am afraid all 3 ladies didnt really do it for me…
@molly,for Agbani, i agree about the choice of shoe colour and i think its becos its dat fitted that makes it look better on her rather than d pregnant woman version every other person has own.for Lisa, a black drop earings, yes, maybe but it wud have been too blended wif the neckline of the dress besides,she’s wearin black pumps so alil colour to further spice up the dress asides the gold isn’t bad.a gold vintage clip ons won’t v looked good wif that hair and she always wears this hair.and yes,a shorter version and a better pose wud have rocked the dress.For the 3rd gurl,i have no comments.

AGBANI DAREGOOOOOO!!!… I still remember where I was when she won miss world…. I was shouting and screaming as if we were first related. Anyway that’s #patriotism. Back to the issue at hand, hmmm let’s just say you arranged the pictures in the correct order.
To pick a fav i say Agbani, but the dress is utter rubbish. It does nothing for the female form.
the third lady just makes me wanna knock the designer on the head! wtf were u thinking spending this lovely fabric on such a ‘bleurrgh’ design? that aside, Agbani did make it look a lil wearable. Lisa, a lil form please… looks like ur wearing a very colourful sack-cloth. last model/iya alata….well. All that’s missing is a tray of Agege bread on your head…smh
Even the a fashion-blind person could see that Lisa Folawiyo won hands down.
Points to ponder:
- The dress is very chic, at the same time very bohemian. Her hair is an embodiment of both aspects.
- The blue earrings are so on point. It gives the whole outfit a pop of colour. Admit it, the first thing you see when you look at the picture are the earrings.
- The shoes are perfect. This look would definitely work for late afternoon/evening event.
- Her make-up is also perfect. Fresh-faced with berry? lip gloss complements the outfit.
The only thing I do not agree with is her white clutch? Has no place whatsoever in the mix.
Not feeling Agbani or the other model either. They are not wearing the dress, it´s wearing them.

This dress no get part 2! Shocking!!! Or maybe it just didn’t photograph well.
The dress looks the best on Agbani. It is fitted and we can truly appreciate the intricate detail on the dress. With the others, it looks like they are wearing a barrel

of all three, only Lisa seems glad to be in the dress…the other two (esp the model) look very unimpressed! LOL
