She can be classified as one of the hottest new entrants into mainstream Nigerian music. From magazine covers to radio interviews, Mo’Cheddah‘s entrance on the scene still reads pretty much like a fairy tale. Her breakout single “If You Want Me” literally put her on the map, and her follow-up single “Ko Ma Roll” did no less. We featured her on our BN Hitlist in September 2009 tagging her as an act to watch out for. Turns out we were not alone in noticing the fresh emerging talent.
The young rapper/singer/song-writer recently won the ‘Most Promising Act to Watch’ at the NEA as well as nominations with the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards for Most Gifted Female Video and Discovery of the Year at the 2010 SMVAs. Her debut album, titled Franchise Celebrity due to drop on the 20th of October. It is a 15 tracker featuring her successful singles, her duet with Chuddy K, and yet-to-be-heard work by her.
Asides the in-house features with Willy Bang and Othello, as well as her song with Naeto C the rest of the songs are just her but all are reflection of her personal musical style she says, “……..it is the culmination of 7 years of preparation and was heavily influenced by my experiences in music over that period.”
