With the aim to “rejuvenate the culture of theatre in Nigeria”, Beeta Universal Arts Foundation (BUAF) shall be staging the play “Iya-Ile” in Lagos from the 26th to the 28th of November 2010 . This play is written by a young and talented playwright, Oladipo Agboluaje.

According to Bikiya Graham-Douglas, Chief Operating Officer of BUAF, “Our focus is rejuvenating the culture of theatre in Nigeria by providing opportunities for people to access performances alongside we create opportunities for individuals to explore their talent and equip them with skills for their advancement“.

Iya-Ile
Set in 1980s Lagos State it focuses on the political hysteria and social change sweeping Nigeria at that time. It is centred on an elitist family, the Adeyemis , their interactions with one another, their staff and how the social and political repartee between the military and the civilians affects them all.

The lady of the Manor Toyin Adeyemi is turning 50, in preparation for her party, the household is in chaos, her sons are more concerned with starting revolutions and chasing girls while the maid Helen waits for her chance to elevate her status…

IYA-ILE will make you laugh and think… One not to be missed!
