While some stars got their Christmas gifts wrapped underneath their Christmas trees, others got theirs on stage at the Ghana Movie Awards which took place on the 25th of December 2010 at the International Conference Centre in Accra, Ghana.

The event was a celebration of Ghollywood and Nollywood with stars from both the Nigerian and Ghanaian movie industries being recognized on stage.

Ghanaian thriller “Sinking Sands” won the Best Picture prize while filmmaker Shirley Frimpong-Manso picked up two awards, one in the Writing/Screenplay category and the other in the Best Directing category. Nadia Buari won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role (English Language) for her role in Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s Checkmate.

Nigerian stars were also on the winners list as Genevieve Nnaji won the Best Actress/West Africa Collaboration award for her role in “Silent Scandals” and Uti Nwachukwu was a surprise winner in the Best Actor/West Africa Collaboration category for his role in Emem Isong’s “Bursting Out“.
