BN Style kicked off 2011 with a special feature on the “11 Young, Fabulous & Talented Designers to Watch in 2011″ – Click to Read.
Starting things off with that feature was no accident.
One of BellaNaija’s major goals for 2011 is to promote the next generation of talent across all fields – from fashion to music, movies, science, entrepreneurship and everything in between.
The BN Style team is pushing forward with this mandate, this week, we will be celebrating the “BN Emerging Fashion Talent Week“.
Everyday of the week, we will feature a lookbook from a promising design label. Some were included in our “11 for 2011″ list and some were not, however they are all immensely talented and breaking boundaries in their own unique ways.

For Day 2 of our BN Emerging Fashion Talent Week, we have selected designer, AKPOS OKUDU, the eponymous label by Port Harcourt based designer, Akpos Okudu.
The 24 year old designer is a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt. She started sewing as a young lady – taught by her grandmother and then launched her label with a self-produced lookbook published via her blog – www.ijawgirl.blogspot.com in 2009. In 2010, the label employed the services of a business manager and is now working towards developing and expanding the Akpos Okudu fashion brand including plans to add an accessories line.
The collection presented here is named “Cocktail Hour”. In a statement released by the designer, she shared the inspiration behind the collection – “This collection is inspired by everything from my favourite cocktails, to the colorful lorries I see all around my city – Port Harcourt and even the colours of my rusty generator. Cocktail hour is a mix of vibrant colours (because I believe colour really looks beautiful on women) and textures, which I have combined to create clothes that are fun, feminine and chic.“
This collection is presented in a unique way as two lookbooks were shot to depict the clothing “outdoors-y diva” and “indoor belle”.

although not really unique, they are still some nice pieces. i think i really wanna put some of these in my wardrobe, just hoping they don’t cost an arm and a leg though. lol
this is totally chic! i would love to try everything! HOT! HOT!! HOT!!!
i hate these models. horrible posing.
How can u say dat? How can u day u “HATE” d models, do u know them or u just dislike the way they posed? mchewwww!!!!
Well, hate is extreme but I would say really bad pose!! So not professional, but I have realized that girls in Nigeria once they seem tall and someone mistakingly flatters them that they look like models then they began to feel like one and even eventually try to pursue a career in it and the result is what you see here…….
Very nice outfits…totally dig the 7th and eighth outfits…lovely pieces….could definitely rock those to any where!!!…..
Really classy, Love the whole collection

really wearable pieces. well done, akpos!
very wearable collection but why are the models so not creative with their poses, they’re giving us celebrity-hands on the waist-poses, they’re models not celebrities.
Love ‘em.Very wearable.see myself in some of these.Good job!
Lovely collection, and sweet colours too.

Awesome!!!!!!! Absolutely love this collection….fresh!! I kept wishing the page wont come to an end! Very well done Akpos……………..I most definitely will c u soon
Collection is ok…bad photography though..some of the clothes should have been steamed they look wrinkled. And the models don’t show off some of the clothes properly with cheesy poses. Wearable clothes–bad presentation.

Very good job Akpos! You must have worked your ass off for this. Congratulations

wow thumbs up to bellanaija team for highlighting the fresh and creative minds of this one of a kind designer Ejiro Amos she is one hell of a fantastic designer that every young Nigerian 21st century lady should don at least 1-2 of her collections so that the dudes would most definitely check them out
bobbydox everly coming with his grammar and story…lol, big ups brudda!!
lol but its true or!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Akpos u’v really got talent! wat i like most is dat d cloths are totally wearable. go gal! ! ! u’l b hearing from mi soon…………….
amazing collection…..looooovvvveeee d fabrics used,combination and designs
Really, really nice but the finishing quite poor. I noticed akpos on one post BN did some weeks ago i think on petite le marche if i am not mistaking, and i kept rooting for her. Okay, this is my advice to akpos: you are young, talented and creative, your pieces are wearable and one can easily relate to them, however, u may need to work on the finishing and attention to detail and the sky would be ur limit.wishing u all the best!
Kool we need more of these exposures, thanks bella nija
get pieces and wearable from top to bottom. Remember that we are not this skinny what about +size dresses
The collection is beautiful to say the least. Photography iS CRAP! Some pictures are too dark, you can hardly see the clothes!
lovely dresses. me likey!!!! the designs are fab…totally wearable….. great work girl.
amazing stuff..bella+lots of stylish friends hav got me lookin alot more at fashion things…not ‘unmentioning’ dat akpos is an exceptionally talented creative i met a couple of yrs ago in uniport nd she is as fun as her collections are…big ups grrl-u just dey start..sky is da steppin stone!
nice designs!
D models make these clothes look drab & tacky. D clothes are lovely & wearable. Be careful not to continually repeat designs, it takes the edge off your creativity
2 words: POOR LIGHTING
i love akpos’s design. actually have a few clothes of hers and i havent been disappointed. personally i tink shes a lovely and adorable young lady and it radiates in her handiwork . i advice people to wear akops okudu clothing and u’ll not be disappointed.
Lovely pieces, bad poses…
Not well sewn…change your tailors
wooooooowwwww!!!! Akposssss, nice nice pieces… u’re truly an amazing designer. I am proud of ya
