Posted on Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 at 12:16 PMBy BellaNaija.com
During a month when we were all “locked up” on Friday nights and Saturdays due to the 2011 Nigeria General Elections, the FELA! in Lagos shows were a welcome ray of social and entertainment sunshine for the Lagos crowd.
In terms of style, most guests were for a relaxed look with African influences such as ankara and kaftans to match the vibe of the occasion.
Here is BN Red Carpet Fab – The FELA! in Lagos Edition

CALL ME OBSESSED OR WHATEVER, BUT I LOVE HER HAIR!
I know right? She took the braids to another level. I love her whole outfit!
good turnout…. can’t solve the puzzle behind Adebayo Lawal’s facade+ clutchbag (reloaded).
Yemi Fela is tooooooo busy – less would have been more
this hauwa mukan and her boots shaa…evrytym
Hahahahahahaha…Youre not the only one that has noticed oh. Over one year now…..
Adebayo is that a clutch bag or what? Plssssssssssss
Young girls you are beariful eh….you are beauriful eh
Naijia are really stepping out wit gud fashion sense…………. luv d concept
Onah Nwachuckwu’s necklace is BANGING, it is the hotness! Every one looks in great in variations albeit some folks that shall remain nameless because they are quite obvious are over dressed in my own very personal opinion for going to the theater UNLESS it was the opening night after party then it makes some semblance of sense. I am truly glad this show made it to Nigeria, I saw it in New York twice and was quite impressed each and everytime even though I had to suspend some of my belief and not see it through a strictly Nigerian prism. I watched it through the eye of simply appreciating art and culture as well as the hard work of the actors who invested 110% to make Baba Fela’s story great and accessible to every person! The Nigerians that are complaining should simple put their money where their mouth is and put up their own version with an all Nigerian cast, period! Complaining without action is just that complaining. Congratulate, don’t hate! When they were were working shopping (working out the kinks, broadway terms sorry folks) the show, I didn’t hear of one Nigerians of all the stinking rich Nigerians at home, the States and London putting their checks down and supporting the show but when Will & Jada Smith, Sean Carter and Beyonce Knowles-Carter came to the rescue, people had a lot of unnecessary things to say. Not cool. Support or get out of the way!
I hope everyone enjoyed it as much I did, that show ROCKS!
Nice. but I think I saw a man purse. lol.
I assure you it’s just a purse, worn by a man… not a murse.
It’s a mlutch. Yep, if he can carry it , I can make up the word.
Nice….There’s nothing like early morning inspiration for making up words!
ibijola bali…nicee!
Yay, nice pics!!!!
ifeoma williams looked the best to me Iro and Buba never looked so hot!!!!
people it is called a “MURSE” urgh
There is murse, and there is purse……… That right there aint no murse biko
I think someone just changed the name to “MLUTCH”?
pls wats vixen ekwere putting on?
Abeg wetin do some of dis pple face! R u fighting sumborry? Jezzzuz! As for evrybody in general, una well done . But I must comment on the anti dat is wearing d grey dress with grey bag. Obviously the strap of your bag is toooooooooo long if your bag lands on the hem of your dress which is already too short.
daisy iremiren your dress is rocking and am i spotting some designer shoes on you?saw that in spring/summer Valentino’s collections those shoes are hot and your dress did u justice.simple but chic.
Its a FAB Clutch. I may just jack it.
Adebayo!!! WTF..I mean slow down..a dude with a purse? Thanks bella for the fab pictures.
i love dayo Ephraim’s jack..
Nigerians are not smiling….
Thanks BN for the red carpet. Loads of them are overdressed (all those heels to watch a sit down stage production) and when its an occassion that requires formal dressing most of them come in cloths I cannot understand.
Dont ha8te! Appreciate!
loving the pictures, almost everyone looks lovely. Meanwhile, these comments are hilarious!! i think people use fashion as a means of expressing themselves so please leave Adebayo alone.. he looks cute with his purse/murse.
Looking good, my people, looking good. I would say some people are overdressed, but I’ve worn skinnies and 3 inch heels to Silverbird galleria before, and that was just to see Ije, not even the premiere…so to each his own.
Alex Ekubo, you have forever been typecast in my mind. Each time I see you, all I see is the nympho sexaholic in Ladies’ Men…cute guy though.
Adebayo Oke-Lawal, guy..you sef sabi say you dey overdo. Where are your ‘friends’? I need to have a discussion with them about what friendship entails.
Again BN, when is this review of Fela’s biography gonna be posted?
Love it!!!! & not just cuz my bro & sis look divine
na wa.nigerians are takin this red carpet thing really serious o..even for a broadway show, some people are still wearing ball gowns…smh….but a lot of people realli look good
I love the fact dat some of them are wearing ankara.adaure u are beautiful I must say!
Naija babes dey rock red carpet no be small!
I ♥ the – Jimi Aina and the Girl (dunno if that’s his girl) picture… I ♥ her outfit more…x
i loveeeeeeeeee her hair

It looks like Vixen is peeing fabric, jumpsuits are a very tricky thing to wear. Women please be careful.
I think this Adebayo fellow is just seeking attention; maybe we should try to consciously ignore his bad taste and see if he and his pout would just miraculously disappear. One can only hope…
On the other hand Mrs. “classic dramatic” Ifeoma Williams is looking better than she has for a long time. At least she’s not wearing black and she is wearing a smile. Omalicha is back!
BEST DRESSED FEMALES
IFEOMA WILLIAMS
THE GIRL IN THE OLIVE/NEON GREEN TANK + SHEER MAXI SKIRT
EBIE ATAWODI
OMOWUNMI AKINNIFESI (MINUS ALL THAT HAIR IN HER FACE)
ALEX EKUBO – YUM!
DUNNO WHY PEOPLE ARE WEARING PARTY DRESSED AND BALL GOWNS… HMPH!
Has anyone even noticed Adebayo-Oke Lawal’s sandals at all or is it just me… it think it just ruined his whole concept of wanting to be a “trend setter”
He doesn’t know how to dress at all but unfortunately this is what passes for fashion-forward in Lagos these days. Half of the Lagos fashion crown don’t even know what they’re doing!
I wholeheartedly agree with this comment. As long as you look like you got dressed in the dark and you have a designer purse and make one appearance in ThisDay style, they will hail you.
Both u and ‘CC’ clearly have no sense of fashion. How can u say Adebayo O-L cannot dress and that Lagos folk don’t know what they are doing?
You’re clearly the clueless ones.
@ Blessed; it’s clear that you do not yet understand the concept of a comment section on a website like this. If you worship at the badly shod feet of Adebayo, as it seems you do, then all you need to do is to make a comment gushing about his “style”. Why people get all defensive on other people’s behalf is beyond me.
And I stand by my earlier comment; half of the Lagos fashion crowd do not know what they’re doing. Not Lagos necessarily but the stylists, “designers” and other hangers-on; those guys haven’t a clue. These people should read more; not just Vogue and True Love but serious books about fashion. They should go to fashion/ design schools so they can stop claiming to be professionals when they are not.
Someone needs to slap the taste outta that ADEBAYO’s mouth……..dude would swear he’s the shizzness, absolute rabbish!
My darling Ronke and Nicole looking gooood!!!!!!! Muah
xxxxxxx
like really….a guy with a purse.CMON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Adebayo Oke Lawal has officially signed the dotted line…ROTFLMAO!
Ifeoma williams…na you biko.
Yo who did that pose to donald Duke?
Biola Alabi…hmmmmm that tattoo ….no comment
Omowunmi and her sister look they are extras from the set of “Return of Jenifa”
the man with the purse MBA! the girl right after him in the long dress … double MBA MBA! what were they thinking?
Adebayo Oke-Lawal looks soo fabulous!!!
He has his individual style unlike most people who just copy off celebrities and i really respect that about him!
pfshhhhh,.,.,.really,.,.no seriously!puhleeze gimee a break,.,if therez anythin 2 describe his look ,den its RECYCLED and OVERDONE!its funny how any person who dresses like a picture of a fashion blog is deemed ”fashionable”,.,.even funnier how ppl lyk u call it ”unique”! trust me hunny there r thousands of ”adebayo’s” in NY,.,ala his whole get up dat delude themselves they r trendsetters!painful 2 watch!
There are millions in London; the boring “Topman” brigade with their ill-fitting, mismatched clothes and offensive shoes. I could go on but it’s really not that important; if Lagos folk want to continue to delude themselves then they should go ahead.
yeni kuti is my best dressed so far
lol…Adebayo’s ‘mutch’ is causing an uproar here oh! generally the people try sha, gotta hand it to dem…love ugoma adegoke and the girl in the black jumpsuit with a chain belt and long braids…but people like the girl in the grey dress with a Chanel bag longer than her dress, and the person right above her with the weird shoes just make me wonder…
Elizabeth Eloho and her husband lovely couple, Ifeoma Williams cute. Naija we dey try no be small.
femi ahmed keep it up…………nice dress
NAIJA!!!!!!!!!! We always go all out!
Uti should please upgrade his shoes.

Wooow, so we still have these sorta cute guyz in Naija? @ last pic with elohor
Murse indeed. he is stylish but this might be one of his weaker looks.
http://mbabaziannet.blogspot.com
Really? And you think you do? Hmm… some pple sha! You blame the whole of Lagos for one single pic you see on Bellanaija! Interesting!
For the very first time, I am speechless. Absolutely beautiful. Everyone looked good, not overdressed, moderate, classy, chic is the word. Thank you BN crew for the hard work done in putting this together. I am grateful to the entire team for this.
Actually Adebayo is my friend and also doubles as a designer and stylist. in as much as i won’t wear those to any event, style is about individuality and not to be stereotyped. He is bold, knows what he wants to wear and wears it. Most Nigerians are not creative and have a limited cased mindset when it comes to dressing up. The Clutch looks unisex atleast its not embellished. Lol. You don’t have to like his style but atleast appreciate it. Almost every1 looked stunning at the FELA event.
Yeni Kuti/Deola Sagoe…what were you thinking????!!!!
i hope that’s a costume yeni’s wearing.
lol
you know nigerians are just fantastic fashion forward people when you go through this pages, every one looking sharp
the first part was the best..and who is that fine boy?the first guy from the beginning
nxt i like vixen’s jumpsuit
femi ahmed who beat beat you?!? LOL
i remember alex from ladies gang–terrible actor
overall not bad
Adaure Achumba looks tres adorable. Ifeoma Williams looks very sophisticated.
I don’t know what possessed Femi Ahmed to wear that dress…she dresses a lot better than that nau. And that girl in the with and black print dress, purple bag and red and black shoes (believe her name is Tosin Adefope) needs a stylist…warrrrisiiiit? And please this cute couple that ejogene is on about aren’t cute. The guy is in need of a shave…he looks frustrated and uncomfortable. Stop kissing – please and be honest on BN!
