Cha-Ching! Nigeria’s Karen Igho & Zimbabwe’s Wendall Parson win Big Brother Amplified – $200,000 Each

Aspiring actress and model, Karen Igho from Nigeria and Zimbabwean pilot, Wendall Parson have won the 2011 edition of Africa’s most popular reality TV show, Big Brother Amplified.
The finale show kicked off with Big Brother Amplified host, Ik Osakioduwa who looked sharp in his grey suit and violet tie. He then introduced his co-host, Channel O-Access VJ, Dineo Moeketsi.
Nigerian “superstar” Wizkid hit the stage in a patent leather jacket paired with skinny jeans. Wizkid connected with the audience as he hyped up the crowd with his song “Holla at Your Boy“. Another young African star took the baton from Wizzy as Mo’Cheddah performed her song “Ko Ma Roll” dressed in a shiny print babydoll mini dress by Nigerian label April by Kunbi.
IK proceeded to the BBA house where he chatted with the housemate for a few minutes. After that, we were treated to clips which showed highlights from this season of Big Brother Africa – Big Brother Amplified. It was fun to go down memory lane! From the tasks to fights to romance to reunions and evictions. It was also funny that we had totally forgotten some housemates..oops!
M-Net Africa Managing Director, Biola Alabi provided insight into the decision to choose 2 winners this season and the various reasons why this season of BBA was truly AMPLIFIED. Coca-Cola Nigeria Marketing Director Austin Ufomba talked about the strategic relationhip between BBA and Coca-Cola brands – Coke & Sprite including the music, football and dance focused Sprite Triple Slam competition.
The Amplified Dance Crew rocked the stage with a dynamic performance to various rhythmic African tracks. With the female dancers in white and the male dancers in black, they did well.
Tanzania’s Cpwaa performed his hit “Action” and got the ladies in the audience screaming. His backup dancers added flavour to the performance with their synchronized moves.
And after verification from the Ernst & Young representative, the real action began…
First BBA finale housemate evicted – Vina from Nigeria
Next was Hanni from Ethiopia
Then a twist – the 5 remaining housemates were order out of the house. South Africa’s Professor and Speedy performed before the Top 5 housemates arrived on stage. IK interviewed the housemates and they talked about their favorite moments in house and then showed highlights of their standout moments in the house.
Next to exit was Sharon O from Uganda
Then Lomwe from Malawi
The Amplified Dance Crew performed one more time and Fally Ipupa from the DRC totally enchanted the audience with his “Sexy Dance”.
The performances were entertaining but we were waiting for one thing and that was for IK to announce the WINNERS!
Finally, Ik asked Luclay to stand…he went on about Luclay’s antics in the house. Then the moment of truth – SHOCKER – Luclay eliminiated.
So Karen & Wendall are the winners!

Vina received zero country votes and was evicted first. Hanni, Lomwe and Sharon O received one country vote each and were also evicted, as was Luclay who received 2 country votes. Karen, with six country votes and Wendall with four country votes have won the Amplified season.

Wendall: 4 country votes – Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Kenya

Karen and Wendal won cos they were the only 2 who probably were ot acting they were themselves all the 91days and that worked in their favour. Karen drew sympathy from the viewers as the other housemates were quick to judge her and lookdown on her and that drew sympathy from the crowd as you could see the patterns any housemate that got into a fight with Karen was eliminated from the game, Luclay latched unto that and was very popular Wendal stood up for her a couple of times but most important he wasnt playing for the cameras. interesting game

Some people tend to misunderstand the whole idea of BB. BB house is not an Economic summit paltform or the G8 Summit. It is a social platform. I honestly dont expect a Bishop or the SO called “well mannered” people on such a show. Karen was meant to entertain and she did just that. She is a successful and good Nigerian. It’s called Big Brother, a reality show with house mates living together for 3 months, evicted periodically the last last housemate/s winning an amount of money. Not originally African and is aired in most parts of the world so you don’t Have to live in the country to know about it or watch it. Most of us also just watch it online. Hope that helps : )

Technically Karen won BBA6 with 6 countries voting for her. She deserves the money more than anyone else in this house, she has a good heart but she needs to be calm. Wendall on the other hand was like watching paint dry. How he stayed in the house this long talk less of winning is beyond me, but i don’t belong to any of the countries that voted for him so i guess they know what they saw in him.

A lot of ignorance is displayed by people on this forum. You need to get a number of facts straight.
1. It’s the country votes that count. That means if 1 million people vote for Luclay in S.A. and 10 people vote for Wendall in Zambia, each of them would have one country vote….Luclay 1 (SA) and Wendall 1 (Zambia).
2. For that reason, it was essential for South African to campaign/solicite for votes for Luclay from other friendly countries. How do you do that when you are killing their citizens in xenophobic attacks.
3. One way of having your country man win is if he/she was entertaining like Karen – evryone loved her. The other way is when your country forms alliances with other countries, which South Africans forgot to do. Wendal got his other votes from Zambia, Namibia and Kenya. Why did they not vote Luclay? Simple, because South Africa did not support their own country reps when they were up for eviction – when Zambian Kim was up, S. Africa voted for Naija, when the Nam chick Bernadina was up, they voted for a Naija again, when Kenya’s Millicent was up they voted for some other country out of SADC again….and when it comes to Luclay, did you really expect all those countries to vote with you when you had abandoned them all along? Poor strategy on your part.
4. Wendall was a real bore. I didn’t even vote for him. I voted Luclay cos he’s black and was more entertaining. But it’s still the country votes that count – it’s Namibia, Zambia and Kenya that tipped the scales for Wendall.

Nice analysis. I hadn’t thought about the results this way. It makes a truckload of sense. IMO, two Underdogs won. Karen was the underdog in the sense that she was looked down on by everyone but a few in the house and Wendall was just plainly overlooked. I liked Wendall in the house (apart from his alliance with his catty, pompous and just plain evil countrymate.) He was quietly competitive. I think the money went to the right people.

He and Karen pretty much had the same fans, and they were never up for eviction together. Fans of Mr & Mrs Otono had to choose, and ofcourse they chose Karen.
I had hoped Hanni would come in second, but you know its women who vote, n of the other 5 dulling people in the house, they found Nibbles most attractive. He should thank his parents for his good looks. So there.

not really. analyze the game closely, it has NOTHING to do with looks. Zimbabwe and Zambia have ALWAYS voted togther, unless up for eviction at the same time. Namibia has voted Wendall twice in the past, so it is no surprise that he won them as well. even without Kenya, he would have won. how Kenya came in? I don’t know. but the alliance worked in his favor. I knew Luclay wouldn’t win while Karen was still there.
besides, Luclay and Karen were up at the same time once before, and a few percentages saved Luclay from eviction because both he and Nic both only had two country votes. Karen had 6, Luclay had 2, and was saved by like 5%.
if they didnt get rid of Wendall or keep Kim to the finals, Luclay’s victory would have been ensured.
