Kemkemstudio Autumn/Winter 2011/12 Collection (Heritage Part 2) – The Lookbook
Posted on Monday, August 15th, 2011 at 4:03 PMBy Ijeoma Ndekwu
Nigerian Label, Kemkemstudio has released the lookbook for its A/W 2011/12 collection. using predominantly Aso-Oke, the collection consists of structured and delicately textured pieces in lush jewel tones.
“The inspiration comes from my love for the Aso-Oke fabric (hand woven fabric from the Yoruba culture). I have been experimenting with the fabric for a while now. We make our Aso-Oke so it is exclusive but this time around I also collected and used vintage Aso-Oke from my clients, friends and families. We have infused the ancient fabric with new age fabrics here like Silk, Ankara, Cotton jersey and Lace. I decided to make a wearable Aso-Oke collection that suited a fun and playful lifestyle. Lots of looks that can be carried from day to evening, multi purpose clothing. A bit of the old and new, yet contemporary“- Kemmy Solomon
Check on it!

Love love all piece save for the trouser/shorts not sure about the waist line
Lovely! You are indeed very creative. This means that my old aso-oke can be turned to something like this. Thumps up!
Love love love this collection, she turned sth forgotten into creative art.
Wonder how expensive her stuff are though, cos I’m saving now so I can buy clothes like mad when I come home next
Very lovely,d 2nd one is my favourite

those shorts in d 8th picture are stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!
buh shldn’t our fashion seasons be harmattan/dry and rainy/wet….we dont av winter and co here na!if we’re doing it their way then our designers shld design fur in ou hot december and bikini in rainy june.just saying!
true true
WOW! this is wat u call creativity.
congrats but biko its time nigerian designers create their own calendar which be autumn/winter….fall summer n co pls lets work with our seasons too na…lol anyways am looking for someone to create an affordable brand like something elegant but still affordable not cheap o u know but one dat wont break bank…holla me when that happens every designer now wants to be high street/brand.
Nice….creative pieces!
9ce clothes.job well done
Autumn/winter collection in Nigeria?!!! Ludicrous.
Did she stand like that on purpose?
I can’t help but think that I missed something. I mean, i’m sure the clothes in themselves are okay, but the overall picture did not inspire me to look at the detail, so…*thumbs down*
This looks soo original and wearable. i admire the fact that the designs are unique
I won’t even hate… these are lovely! Freaking smart ideas too.. Yeh! All those old aso-oke’s are not useless sha… Who woulda thunk? I Love love…
Hopefully, somebody won’t say prices start at 30,000 Naira?
N30,000 ke? LOL. If lower-end brands have pieces for N30,000, it’s highly likely these pieces are even more expensive than that.
Ha! Her stuff is like 50k ish! Abeg! Kmt!
he he he … pls if dat is de case i better go harvest all my momma’s ancient damask and george fabrics and make countless little bum shorts with them and give them one fine name o… like “nkwulenu spring collection”! Maybe i can stop job-hunting if i sell each for N30k. money dey this country o!
Wow i don’t call many collections sophisticated but this is sophisticated and very very chic, well done.
I love the collection altho I think the pieces ar too expensive.
