We love the positivity and altruism that is blossoming in Nollywood and the rest of the Nigerian showbiz scene. Celebrities including D’banj, P-Square, Rukky Sanda, Terry G, Ini Edo, Genevieve Nnaji and most recently, Karen Igho have taken time out to share their blessings with the less-privileged members of our society. Various orphanages and the Dustbin Estate children are recent beneficiaries of these charity initiatives.

Children with learning disabilities and disorders such as Autism face a tough challenge in Nigeria due to the limited number of special school equipped to nurture them.
Nigerian actress, Monalisa Chinda decided to support one of these remarkable schools on her birthday earlier this month.

She visited the Patrick Speech & Languages School in Lagos where she met the administrator, Dotun Akande, staff and students of the school. Monalisa was given a tour of the school, briefed about the challenges the children face and also the work that the school does. She brought provisions and other household items that are needed by the students. It was a fun day for the students of the school as they got to meet one of their favorite Nollywood stars.

Visits like these are positive, not just because of the gifts the children receive but also the awareness it helps raise.

Visit the school’s website – http://www.pslcautism-ng.org/ | You can read more about this visit via NollywoodUncut.com

    • akararocks September 22, 2011 at 9:19 PM

      Brilliant…nothing like giving back…..

    • Ayo September 22, 2011 at 9:31 PM

When you give let it be between you and your God. Let your motive be to show love to people in need and not show the world that you are doing something good. Give in secret so the Lord would bless you in the open……All this donations with pictures to show is all cheap “am a good person” publicity….

      • mee September 23, 2011 at 2:09 AM

so if she’s doing it secretly & low key and nosy Nigerian media tracks her down>>>
I dn’t think they all always do it for show, sometimes the media gotta make news and thats something the celebs can do nothing about.

      • Ibinike September 23, 2011 at 7:36 AM

I think giving publicly by “public figures” is to encourage others to do the same. Let God be the juge of the motives, the children get the neeeded help so the purpose is fulfilled.

      • It is I September 23, 2011 at 9:28 AM

Also the purpose of making it public as said by BN is to create ‘public awareness’.

    • Ma Stey September 22, 2011 at 9:41 PM

she has tried may God Almighty replenish her source

    • Fairy GodSister September 22, 2011 at 9:50 PM

    • mary007 September 22, 2011 at 10:03 PM

I love the way she looks in recents times ( she really looks good) and this encourages people that there is life after a marriage does not go the way the parties involved hoped.

    • MissKay September 22, 2011 at 10:45 PM

i agree with the notion that charity shouldnt just be a public show, but really, the point is that she has done it & she has helped people who are in need, so kudos to her & i hope many others see this & are moved to do more & be more for the sake of Nigeria’s betterment in any way possible. Big stuff really do start from small stuff put together.

    • Destined September 22, 2011 at 11:32 PM

to all saying generosity shouldn’t be made public,i have a question for you.how will she inspire others like her to bless others if they don’t see her do it?

People, I know you only want to read and see negative things about your stars, I think it is better we always see moves like these. In liberia we say “When the white man knows please know your friend black man” thanks to Mona, i hope and pray that one day our stars will have some public opportunities and be able to give from what they get.

    • cathy September 23, 2011 at 12:48 PM

      nice outing babe. kudos

    • cledges September 23, 2011 at 12:52 PM

Sometime its important that publicity is allowed in cases like this, I bet most of us never had any idea a place like this existed, with celebs like Monalisa, doing this, i now know that there is a place called Patrick speech and school.. as mother Theresa said , we cannot do great things in this world, we can only do small things with great Love. Bottom line, she has done her bit, the question is WHAT ARE WE DOING?

    • kiki September 23, 2011 at 1:40 PM

She’s done her part. Stop judging her and do the best you can do.
      Well done Mona.
