Africa Fashion Week 2011: Mataano
Posted on Friday, October 21st, 2011 at 12:14 AMBy Ijeoma Ndekwu
Africa Fashion Week 2011 kicked off today as earlier announced. The opening catwalk show featured the S/S 12 collection from the identical twin sisters – Ayaan and Idyl Mohallim, behind Mataano.
Tropical florals, coral and nudes set the tone for Mataano S/S12. We are presented with casual summer dresses, crisp whites, playful rompers , jumpsuits, full skirts, tiered and body conscious silhouettes. We see wide-leg pants in three-quarter and full lengths and we also get a glimpse of denim! I am on the fence with this collection; although I love the playful cuts and the body conscious pieces, the collection leaves me yearning for more. I absolutely adore the white crochet top paired with the knee- length full-skirt, it is such a chic and classic summer look!

Can we get some models with some modicum of curves please? How am I supposed to know what the dress would look like on me, if all I have to go with is a human hanger?
