A few weeks ago, rumours were swirling that Nigerian actress Mercy Johnson had “gone blind” after her wedding. As we can see from recent red carpet appearances, the rumours were false.
iROKtv caught up with Mercy Johnson on the set of the movie that sparked the rumour – “3 Friends & A Lover“. Mercy’s character loses the use of one of her eyes. The movie’s makeup artiste created the convincing “gauged eye” look.

lol. “Atuks looked at it and couldn’t eat”. I rather love the picture, I think makeup artists love Mercy. She must be fun to work with. Some people criticized her for shaving her head for the widow movie, saying that she could have worn a bald wig, she would do anything for camera/money, etc. But I prefer to think that she likes to give her all to make any production she’s involved in super.

Secondly, I am impressed by the makeup. In the past, movie producers/whoever is in charge of all that, told their story with no respect for the audience. Costumes & makeup looked horrible and many people hated Nigerian movies because of that. But in recent times, things have changed. What’s the movie where Rita Dominic is a secretary? Not only did they dress her like an old school Seke, her hands looked wrinkled and dark (to me), and her face was out of this world. Movie makers have realized that their audience is not stupid. We see these things, and we appreciate it when you put a lot of work such things.
When i heard d rumuor, i almost cried only 2 discover it was a – rumour. Thank god its not real cos she is my best actress. MJ carry on you are wonderful.
It’s amazing what you can achieve with prosthetic makeup and even regular makeup too. Makeup artists are hugely talented, for me, the face (and too an extent the human body) is the canvas through which they express their art and convey their message – their work should really be more widely appreciated for it’s artistic value.

When I read the news I was so hurt and sad , I went into prayer for this wonderful lady, later I read that it was all rumor, infact I thank God for her life….I prayer that whatever the enemy has planned again this lady will never come to past.
