Mandla & Anais

Earlier today, BN received an interesting press statement.
Nelson Mandela’s grandson, ANC MP Mandla Mandela released a press statement a few hours ago and here are excerpts from the statement.

The Mandela family have sent my wife, Nkosikazi Nobubele Mandela, back to her home after it was discovered that she had been having an affair with one of my brothers. I can confirm that this affair resulted in a son that Nkosikazi Nobubele gave birth to in 2011…The revelation of this affair has come as a shock to me and the rest of my family…It has been made more painful because it is my own brother who is at the centre of the crisis.

BN sought verification of the authenticity of the story and according to the South African daily Sowetan Newspaper, “Freddy Pilusa of FNP Communications said that he had released it on behalf of Mandela and verified its authenticity”. The story has also been picked up by the international press including the UK Telegraph, Daily Mail and Independent.

Here is the background story – 38 year old Mandla Mandela married Anais Grimaud in 2010. Their relationship created controversy because he was still married to his first wife, Tanda Mabunu-Mandela. After their wedding, Anais who is from the French Overseas Territory Island – Reunion, changed her name to Nkosikazi Nobubele Mandela. Their son Qheya  was born in 2011. His first wife, Tanda fought the marriage in court and it was annulled but the couple stayed together. Tanda and Mandla are currently going through a formal divorce.

In late 2011, rumours swirled that Mandla had also married Swazi princess, Nodiyala Mbali Makhathini.

Anais has reportedly moved back to her home island, Reunion.

Truth is stranger than fiction! That said, they should not drag Mandela’s name through the mud with their personal issues.
