Yesterday, Thursday 16th August 2012, some of the biggest names in the Nigerian entertainment industry including Lynxxx, Yvonne “Vixen” Ekwere, Sasha, Ms. Jaie, Olisa Adibua, Clarence Peters, Dayo Ephraim and Efe Tommy gathered at The Penthouse, Villa Picasso, 62B Ademola Adetokunbo, Victoria, Island, Lagos for the video premiere of Hennessy Artistry‘s latest song “Bartender” featuring two Nigerian rap stars M.I and Naeto C.
Although Mr Incredible was MIA at the video launch, he took to social networking site, Twitter to apologize to his fans and the brand saying “I really want to apologise @HennessyNIGERIA and all their special guests for missing the launch tonight.. Unavoidable circumstances”.
At the launch, it was announced that 7 Nigerian artistes - Dammy Krane, Ms. Jaie, Tunde Ednut, L.O.S, Flowssick and Burna Boy – will be joining the Hennessy Artistry Club Tour kicking off on Friday 31st August 2012 and will hold in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

I saw this coming; it’s funny how just a couple of days ago there was an article on Bella Naija about words hurting people. Almost everyone said they had been victims to people saying nasty things about them. Now there is a red carpet and everyone is back to their tongue lashing ways- talking about how this person looks like this and how another person’s makeup is looking like that. Seriously people don’t learn, if you don’t have any good thing to say about people just zip it. How these people decide to dress or wear their makeup is nobody’s business. You don’t expect people to dress or do their makeup the way you will do it. Everyone should be entitled to dress or wear their makeup however they want it.
Then BN should close the comments section.
I am not asking for BN to close the comment section, all I am saying is people need to be tactful and discreset before writing some of the comments made. I think people need to ask themselves the question “if someone writes this comment I am about to leave about me, will I be happy about it”. I am a huge supporter of freedom of speech but seriously people need to be prudent. You can just be saying things like that persons leg is fat, that person needs to lose some pounds, that person needs to eat a burger, that person looks gay, that person’s makeup looks like wack. So what if someone is gay, thin, or fat. Common guys, can you go to your boss at work and tell him/her that he/she is fat and the answer is No. People need to think before they write, words hurt people and celebrities are no different. They are human beings like you and me.

Remi, it’s a matter of having self control of what you say or write. The same kind of self control I have or you have that will make you not lash out at your boss even if you are pissed. You can’t just have people with “diarrhea of the mouth”: (people that keep blabbering and can’t control what they say or write regardless of if it hurts someone). This topic is really touchy to me because I have always been very slim and sometimes the kind of things some Nigerians here say to me are very hurtful. Remi, the main thing is if I saw you in a grocery store you will probably not appreciate me coming to tell you that you are thin/fat /dressed gay/your make-up looks like a drag queen/you need to sign up for gym membership because your leg is too fat; do unto others as you want others to do unto you that’s just it. Freedom of speech and all these technology are awesome, but sometimes people misuse it and forget the most important thing which is accountability. Remi, I hope you get what I am trying to say.
