“Facilitation and Promotion of Mobile Broadband in Africa” – The Etisalat Prize for Innovation 2012 – Win up to $35,000

The Etisalat Prize for Innovation 2012 seeks to highlight the facilitation and promotion of Mobile Broadband in Africa.

Broadband is primarily mobile in the African continent and critical to its economic development. A rise of ten mobile phones per 100 people boosts GDP growth by 0.6%, this in turn results in improved market information flow assisting small to medium sized businesses attract customers, and ultimately improving social links.

The prize will be awarded in 2 categories; a first prize for the most innovative product or service launched in the last 12 months and a second award will go to the most innovative idea for driving or facilitating mobile broadband use in Africa.

Entries will need to show demonstrable impact on broadband usage, and impressive uptake from customers.

Etisalat has a lauded track record for innovation in the Nigerian market and it remains one of the pillars of its business strategy. Since starting commercial operations in 2008 a number of Etisalat’s products and services have been innovative firsts, including the first to launch an environmentally-friendly product in Africa, Eco SIM, and first to launch fast & affordable mobile broadband over 3.75G.

Etisalat believes innovation should go beyond improvements in existing products and services, and instead have real valuable social or economic impact to customers. In support of this belief, Etisalat is proud to announce the first edition of this prize encouraging and celebrating valuable innovation in the African market.

The prize will be awarded in 2 subcategories with a prize for the most innovative product or service launched in the last 12 months and a second prize for the most innovative idea for driving or facilitating mobile broadband use in Africa

How to Enter
The Etisalat Prize for Innovation will recognise the most innovative mobile Broadband product, service or idea that provides a significant utility to African mobile users and can demonstrate a valuable social or economic impact on customers.
