A Dreamy Day, A Joyful Union: Yemi Shittu-Balogun & Goke Phillips Wed

One thing we are constantly on the lookout for on BN Weddings is weddings that push the envelope. Forget cookie cutter, we love weddings that are unique and represent the individuality of the happy couple. Yemi Shittu-Balogun and Goke Phillips‘ wedding was so dreamy! The festivities started with their Moroccan-themed traditional engagement. Yemi and Goke stood out in their red Aso-Oke, we love the pairing of the bride’s modern jewellery with traditional aso-oke. There was bold use of red and gold all around the venue with the infusion of rich green and burnt orange tones from the aso-ebi as well.

On the 12th of May 2012, Yemi and Goke’s day started with the Islamic joining of their marriage at their Nikkai ceremony and then the church blessing at the Cathedral Church of Christ in Marina, Lagos. Yemi’s dress was so beautiful with the clusters of over 3000 hand-stitched petals and crystals which shone in the light, Goke looked handsome in his grey suit paired with a white bow-tie. Surrounded by family and friends, Yemi and Goke were joined as husband and wife.

The reception venue was transformed into a “backyard dream“, a special garden just for Yemi & Goke. Ivory roses, Baby’s Breath, ivy and even grass created the perfect backdrop for their celebration.

The couple enjoyed their day thoroughly as they cut their cake, completed their first dance and all the other exciting wedding reception milestones. They danced the night away with friends as DJ Caise took the reign of the decks.

BN wishes Yemi & Goke a blessed life together as one.

I mean……. am soo inspired by Nigerian wedding planners…… wow……This is soo elegant, beautiful, not overcrowded, not too in your face. This showcases a flip from American and High profile celebrity weddings. Our saving grace is our traditional engagement…..the bride and groom get to show the their heritage. Blessings of martial bliss to the couple.

    • ToBechiDaniel September 12, 2012 at 11:17 AM

The bride’s got some figure to her plus some very nice tastes. A beautiful wedding. Best wishes to the couple.

Simple and classy wedding. Tech groom & groom’s men, colourful bridesmaids and pretty bride.

Love the choice of cake design and the decorations on it tallied with the petal designs on the bride’s dress.

In the fifteenth picture, I can see Mr Olumide Ijogun, Tolu Odukoya’s fiance or am I wrong?

In all, I enjoyed viewing the wedding pictures.

Lovely Lovely Lovely! So out of the box and so unexpected especially the mix of colours and the bridal train. The couple have obviously got style. The only unimportant and minute issue that I noticed is that I didn’t quite like the fit of the dress on some of the bridesmaids, otherwise it was all fab! God bless their union.
