Fashion fabulousity rocked the city of Lagos from Wednesday 24th October – Saturday 27th October 2012 as this year’s edition of the MTN Lagos Fashion & Design Week took place in grand style.
Some of Africa’s top as well as upcoming design labels were present to showcase their new collections. Iconic Nigerian label, Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi was one of the fashion brands present. For its new collection, the label’s creative head had us all in awe from start to finish with its chic, flowy and print-tastic collection.
Renowned for its Victorian and Edwardian era influenced pieces, the designer presented us “Butterflies“, a collection flourishing with outfits made with multicoloured print, silk and lace. Check out all the runway shots!

Lovely Lanre! Well Done!
simple and Beautiful
Yes! Thank you Jesus! For some weird i love LDA but this has to be one of my favorite collections from her, the prints are truly unique and beautiful.
mature elegance!!!
Lanre Dasilva-Ajayi is one of those designers you can’t help but love. I know some people don’t like her designs but this to me is quite simply amazing.
Love some, like some. But love her.
Beautiful. So many lovely pieces. Well done Lanre.
Love,love,love!!!
Nice! Good job Lanre!
These designs are nice. Very refreshing !
Great designs and lovely cuts but not a great fan of the butterfly fabric.

Love It!!…
nice.. well done
I guess I am the only one that expected more of her. It is nice but it’s not the type of collection that blows me away
Love love love the butterflies.
I wish she would edit more as some the pieces are really excellent. Less is more. The butterfly print is gorgeous and I can see that selling everywhere next summer. She is a rare bird in the industry not just because of her unique talent but her generous spirit so I always wish her well every season.
Ok! Is there something about this collection that everybody sees about LDA or any of her previous that I don’t see? This woman as far as design is concerned is zero! She uses very busy and elaborate fabrics to veer away attention from zero creativity and designing. I agree she is brilliant at mixing fabrics, but use plain and less busy fabrics for this design and the clothes will be boring. The creativity and talent of a designer are obvious when boring and plain fabrics are turned into items of wonder….with LDA she uses fabrics to disguise the ever boring, zero design ability and then everyone is thinking wow! Wow my y€#$h!!!
my thoughts exactly
Bella it is obvious you love this woman, I heard she is likeable but please you should have given priority to other designers with better designs and collection…why LDA first, she was the second to the last show, surely they were some better collections before hers.
well @Spectator, i agree with you but she is a designer still, she doesnt create new designs most times, agreed, but she sells the prints and fabric designs, which i think LDA is all about in my own opinion, plus she pays great attention to details as regards the mix, cuts and pattern. Just so you know, im in no way connected to LDA, incase you may be wondering why i’m defending the brand lol.
lovely collection as usual
lovely, I can see Michelle Obama wearing a couple of pieces from this collection. simple and elegant
yes, as usual! well done LDA!

J’adore le collection… I love it really do.
I love LDS! I need to own a piece.
hmm…. @ Spectator: I agree 50%! the other 50% gives her kudos, when i think about her previous collections, This is a great job! SisiEko Said it all!!! >> ‘she is a designer still, she doesnt create new designs most times, agreed, but she sells the prints and fabric designs, which i think LDA is all about in my own opinion, plus she pays great attention to details as regards the mix, cuts and pattern’

really impressed… Lanre has grown as a designer and i must commend her… i mean when she started… her dresses seem abit odd… ( not necessarily unique) ..but this is farr away from d way she started.. this is really good.. thumbs up
