2012 MTN Lagos Fashion & Design Week: Mai Atafo Inspired

Mai Oh Mai!
Nigerian fashion label, Mai Atafo Inspired unveiled its Spring/Summer 2013 collection at the just concluded 2012 MTN Lagos Fashion & Design Week, which took place from Wednesday 24th October – Saturday 27th October 2012 at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The creative director, Ohimai Atafo kicked off his new collection presentation with ready-to-wear suits for men. Dapper clad male models strut the runway in light and navy blue suits with dark and white pants.
Immediately after showcasing the male collection, we were taken to the bridal world by the designer. For the label’s Weddings by MAI S/S 13 collection, we were presented with a white ball gown with a dramatic centre piece cut, a pink knee-length dress as well as lace gowns. The collection was accessorized with fascinators as well as elbow and waterfall veils.

The blazers look great, the trousers are a bit off, LOVE the concept of the dresses but no originality perhaps having the dresses in different colours for weddings guests instead of brides would have been better…. just a thought

This guy should stick to menswear. His womenswear is banal at best and to quote @deee

Mai Atafo, you are a very talented menswear designer but your bridal collection is really dulling your brand. Stick to menswear!

Hmmm, if only Mai Atafo can stick to Men’s wear, with respect to the hardwork he puts in the ladies department, He is better of a Men’s wear Designer. The dresses are okay but no WOW factor and the bouquets were not necessary in my opinion, its runway not a photo session/shoot.

O…k… Why do I seem to be the only one loving the wedding gowns? I just feel its quite different from the everyday wedding dresses I’ve seen. Why do you guys think most of our celebrities patronize is wedding line? Cus its unique! Jeez! Go mai, u knw ow we do it! And the lady that thinks the bouquet is a no no, ever heard of props on the runway??its allowed pls! Even Vivienne westwood won’t mind a carriage on the runway!
