26 Year Old Austin Igwilo Wins the 2012 Model of Africa Competition in Lagos – Snapshots from the Event

On Sunday 21st October 2012, 26 year old Education/Accounting graduate of Imo State University, Austin Igwilo emerged winner of the 2012 edition of Model of Africa competition which took place at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
At the event tagged ‘The Dream Edition”, Tanzanian menswear designer, Sheira Ngowi, who was also a judge alongside designers, Ohimai Atafo and Frank Oshodi, presented his label’s new collection “The Return of the Gentleman”. Other design labels who unveiled their latest collections include Maxivive (Model of Africa Most Creative Designer 2012), Femy Toys, 1989 By Eragbae, Revamped UK, B-eazy, MoS and Kamsi Tcharles.
According to the organizers of the Model of Africa 2012 competition, Austin Igwilo is currently preparing to go to Thailand for one of the most prestigious male pageants in the world, Mister International, where he will be competing with participants from 45 other countries.
Austin Igwilo and the runner-ups including Thompson Korakpe (1st Runner Up) and Izuchukwu Anoliefo (2nd Runner Up) as well as Okechukwu Ojukwu (Mr Runway Africa 2012), Raymond Okonji (Mr Style Africa 2012), Hillary Uduh (Mr Fitness Africa), Valentine Okuzulu (Mr Photogenic), 19 year old Mr Popularity Africa winner Olumide Oworu and Mthokozisi Sikhosana (Mr Amity Africa 2012), were all presented with personalized wrist watches, award plaques and prizes from participating designers and sponsors by Uju Abdulkadir of Grant of London.
