Late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s Will is Unveiled: His Widow, Bianca gets the Bulk Share of his Wealth | Mentions a Previously Unknown Daughter

A year after the death of  Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the late elder statesman and leader of the defunct Biafra Republic, his will has been presented to the family with his widow, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, getting the bulk share of his wealth.

The will was presented today by the Chief Registrar of the Enugu High Court, Mr Dennis Ekoh and was witnessed by Bianca, Val Nwosu, Ojukwu’s first cousin, and  Mike Ejemba.

What’s more interesting about the will is that it revealed the late Ojukwu had a love child none of his family members knew about. According to Vanguard, he identified one Tenny Haman as one of his children.

Ojukwu listed the children as Tenny Haman, Chukwuemeka Jnr, Mmegha, Okigbo, Ebele, Chineme, Afam and Nwachukwu.

He willed the Casabianca Lodge at No. 7, Forest Crescent, GRA, Enugu, two properties at Jabi and Kuje in the FCT as well as all his money and personal effects to his widow, Bianca. He also said that Bianca should replace him as the trustee in the family company, Ojukwu Transport Ltd, while also giving her two plots of land in his village at Nnewi.

He, however, added that if she re-married, the land should be taken away from her.

The first son, Emeka Jnr., got the family house at Nnewi, while the newly mentioned daughter, Tenny Haman, got the Jubilee Hotel located in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The Biafran warlord also shared other landed property in the village among all his children.

Ojukwu listed the trustees and executors of the will to include Bianca, Emeka Jnr and Mr James Chukwuneme.

Reacting to the will, Bianca, who is Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain told Vanguard: “It was a fair will. This time round, he did not disappoint us,’’ she said.

She however, expressed shock at the disclosure of a new daughter in the family, whom she said had never been mentioned by her husband.

None of the children was present at the presentation of the will.

    • LISAAA November 30, 2012 at 4:36 pm

I second that. *Google here i come*

    • Uber Posh November 30, 2012 at 6:37 pm

Trust me the entire world would have long checked on this person. Even before bella posted the jist :-) hehehehe!!! If google could keep records of times checked? I’m sure that name is one of the most trending name on google today…..lol!
And the name is listed first as one of his children. Seems its his very first child. But I really don’t think he/she is a well known person else the picture would have appeared on google somewhere. But I trust the press, we shall soon see this person …..very soon, when he/she surfaces to claim the hotel inherited in Zaria.
Awwww! but that goes to show that he is kind hearted, for him to have remembered a love child somewhere, atleast to share in inheritance. Some men who have just moved on! after all these years

    • Ada di ora November 30, 2012 at 10:14 pm

Me too I tried o…nothing! LOL Amebo no go kill us all!!! hahahaha

  • Seun November 30, 2012 at 4:25 pm

wow, what a secret, well at least he protected her interest, i respect him even more for not allowing it to cause problems while he was alive, but right by all his children. Truly a great man. But if i may ask if you had a love child would you tell your wife? or wait till death and do it through your will? hmmm!!

    • prism of an immigrant November 30, 2012 at 8:52 pm

Are you freaking kidding me? You respect him more? Oh please! In effect you saying that his wife didn’t deserve to know he had a secret child. His secrecy was cowardly behavior. If you have any doubts, let’s put the shoe on the other foot. Assuming we just discovered that a late Bianca had a secret child what would your reaction be? I can guarantee that you wouldn’t tell us you found new respect for her. Instead the comments will be filled with all kinds of disparaging name calling, such as as slut, whore, and ashewo to name a few.

    Google is my friend

  • nina onita November 30, 2012 at 4:39 pm

i have a feeling that this said new pikin was conceived when he was in uni in uk, bet me that she isnt possibly his first child by the way they are listed. i hope he did a dna test first though. but glad they can all finally relax and enjoy his wealth in peace

  • Bey November 30, 2012 at 5:15 pm

@least she said it was a fair will..nothing mega

    • Dolapo December 1, 2012 at 9:06 am

It’s pretty fair alright. Igbo widows usually get a really bad deal and are usually suffering at the hands of their inlaws so Biaca is chilling 0….

As for the illegitimate child, nothing is new under the sun jare. My mum always says that it is onli after a man dies that you’ll know how many children he has

  • Ona November 30, 2012 at 5:21 pm

hmmm so the rest of the kids got village properties?? ok o.

And the illegitimate pikin got the hotel business while the legitimate son got the family house? hmmmm ok o.

This Tenny does not seem tom exist on google. hmmm ok o

  • Nana November 30, 2012 at 5:37 pm

Why will the properties be taken from her if she remarries ? What if he finds true love again ? HIAN

  • Brandigest November 30, 2012 at 5:38 pm

Fair will indeed…. Jubilee hotel seems to be a fat cow oh… (my 5cents)

lol…Bianca. there you have it. the man you thought was sacred and unparalled still had skeletons in his cupboard and he hid it from you.

  • Idak November 30, 2012 at 6:04 pm

Randy men. Even condoms make no sense to them. They just spread their seeds far and wide.

  • John November 30, 2012 at 6:18 pm

I like where he said ‘if she re-marries, the plots of land in Nnewi should be taken away from her.’ So the questions becomes will she or won’t she. The plot thickens!

    • Sam November 30, 2012 at 6:53 pm

That clause is also very fair! ‘cos he has already given landed properties to his children which includes Bianca’s children. So if she re-marries, still letting her own the land will be unfair on the other children…..’cos eventually she will give the land to her own sons ‘cos will she be owning a land at an ex-husband’s home town? Mbanu!! ……So as she said, it was fair.
She got the lions share obviously for being the wife till his death.

  • Anonymous November 30, 2012 at 6:42 pm

I personally think this will was cooked up by Bianca n some fake lawyers. Kenny Hamas indeed. For all u know she might be Bianca’s love child. If u know the man ojukwu then u’ll know this will cnt be from him. Ojukwu loved his children much. He willed most things to u indeed when u were an adultrous wife n he found out b4 his illness. Odiegwu oooo

    • Anon November 30, 2012 at 6:53 pm

The power of Bianca. No messing.

    • Ona November 30, 2012 at 7:41 pm

Gbam! *quickly goes back to my corner and watches as the plot thickens*

    • Tenny November 30, 2012 at 9:39 pm

Ewu anonymous. Bianca cook up fake child that she didn’t know about but she had when? Mumu. And we are only talking about 1 house and 2 plots of land when her own father owned half of enugu.pleeze. Ojukwu can only give what he owned and it is fair because bianca still has little children to educate and the other ones have graduated since so what is there? Ojukwu is a hero because his will shows that he was not greedy and remembered his love child. with all of you searching for her on google i feel sorry for the poor woman already.

  • Concerned Native November 30, 2012 at 6:49 pm

how old is bianca? cuz if she is past child bearing age i think she should just stay and train her kids and forget remarrying. And did she have triplets for ojukwu, -just curious, and wait i thought ojukwu had another elder son name debe sylvester, or is he the illegitimate child, cuz if he gave tenny something shouldnt he get something too? or is he acknowledging only his legit ones? Am confused ooo..hmmmm

    • Tenny November 30, 2012 at 9:45 pm

If Ikemba acknowleged an unknown daughter then this debe is an imposter and should tell us his real father and leave Ojukwus family alone. I admire Ojukwu for not grabbing land everywhere. He was true in life and death and any man knows how difficult it is to tell a man about a love child but he rembembered her so very good for the woman.

  • Me November 30, 2012 at 6:59 pm

But what I don’t understand is why Bianca added the clause “He didn’t disappoint us this time”…..I’m wondering, like has he been disappointing you before now?

As for people saying Bianca drafted the will, are you really serious about yourself? Mtsheew!!! why would anyone even think that thought? Ojukwu was a very powerful man, you think it would be easy to chicken out a hanky-panky will in his name?? Think again!!

    • tatafo! November 30, 2012 at 9:29 pm

I think the “he didn’t disappoint” is in regards to how he lost the Biafran war

    • Ewurafua December 1, 2012 at 1:34 am

That’s what I want to know as well. Can someone please be kind enough to offer ‘Me’ and I some background info?

  • Iris November 30, 2012 at 7:31 pm

    It’s Nigeria. There’s always a love child.

  • Yinka Ogunbajo November 30, 2012 at 8:36 pm

    who cares!

  • iamfascinating November 30, 2012 at 8:45 pm

Really, inheritance shouldn’t be such a big deal.Make your own money.

  • prism of an immigrant November 30, 2012 at 8:47 pm

I can’t believe a lot of the comments I’m reading here.

  • Tesonma November 30, 2012 at 9:17 pm

Ojukwu is a legend. Stuff movies are made of.

  • Eve November 30, 2012 at 10:03 pm

I wish her all the best. If she chooses to remarry, she shld then quitly give out the lands as instructed. Rest in Peace warlord Ojukwu

  • Miss D November 30, 2012 at 10:49 pm

Abeg as a lawyer, I was taught in law school that if a beneficiary to a Will witnesses the Will then the gift given to that beneficiary would become void i.e, the beneficiary can not get the gift in the Will. SO abeg why is Bianca as a witness to the Will be getting the gift? Which lawyer help draft the Will?

  • yulo December 1, 2012 at 12:36 am

  • Raychelle December 1, 2012 at 4:48 am

@miss D that is true! And i don’t think she falls under any of the exceptions to that rule. Fair will though.

  • Raychelle December 1, 2012 at 4:56 am

@miSs D,maybe the will was executed in the presence of at least two(2) other witnesses.

  • Agunze December 1, 2012 at 5:00 am

I don’t think we have heard the last of Ikemba’s will. I have no doubt Debe is Ikemba’s son and was ommited in his will? Without accusing anybody of foul play yet, but could somebody have tampered with Ikemba’s will? Is that really Ikemba’s will?

  • NSG December 1, 2012 at 9:56 am

An unknown daughter (Tenny) recognized, a known son (Debe) not recognised. Interesting!!! Lucky Bianca though.

    • Honeybooboo December 2, 2012 at 6:19 pm

Abi? It seems they are still writing the sequel to this blockbuster

  • yemi L December 1, 2012 at 12:52 pm

Na wa. Lessons to be learnt

  • Ada di ora December 2, 2012 at 9:19 am

Apparently Tenny is really “Teni Hamman” who is a Kaduna chic, and those who grew up with her, knew she was Ojukwu’s child, as she looks like him. That makes sense for him to give her the Zaria property.

  • huh? December 2, 2012 at 12:34 pm

    How did u know,aproko

  • mercy December 2, 2012 at 3:54 pm

smh @ “this time he didnt disappoint us”

  • Honeybooboo December 2, 2012 at 6:16 pm

Is the love child Bianca ‘ s alter ego? This just doesn’t make any darn sense that ojukwu would settle an unknown child but completely jabo his known children. Isorai

  • Omo December 3, 2012 at 4:45 pm

Hehehehe…thought i was the only one guilty of googling Tenny Hanan

  • ken December 9, 2012 at 1:51 pm

is it true that debe changed his name to ojukwu ? if true its time for him to change back to ude, why does he want ojukwu to be his father by force ?
