As you can imagine, we love romantic comedies. Especially romantic comedies done right!
On Valentine’s Day 2013 – that’s February 14th just in case – Producer/Director Michelle Bello‘s movie “Flower Girl” will land in Nigerian cinemas. The filmmaker is best known for her award winning film “Small Boy” which was honoured at the African Movie Academy Awards.
Flower Girl is a romantic comedy that involves the life of Kemi, a shy florist, who is desperate to tie the knot with her long-time boyfriend Umar. Contrary to her expectations, Umar suddenly breaks up with her, leaving her devastated. In a desperate bid to get him back, Kemi teams up with a most unlikely ally, Tunde Kulani, a famous playboy Nollywood star.
The movie addresses the issue of young women who are in a hurry to get married thinking only about their prefect wedding day and not the long-term commitment required by both individuals to make it last.
The next generation of amazing Nigerian stars meticulously assembled by Michelle includes Damilola Adegbite, (formerly in Tinsel), Chris Attoh (Tinsel), Eku Edewor (53 Extra), Bikiya Graham Douglas and Chuks Chukwujekwu, starring for the first time as a male lead. Also starring in the film are famous actors Patrick Doyle, Teni Aofiyebi and Tosan Edremoda-Ugbeye. This dynamic ensemble brings a whole new take on love in Nigeria and audiences are sure to have a highly entertaining experience watching Flower Girl when it is released in 2013.
With an all-star crew including Co-Producer Michelle Dede (Big Brother Nigeria), Art Director Bola Bello (AMAA award winner for Art Direction: Small Boy), award-winning Screenwriter Jigi Bello (Shooter, The Waiting Room) and Director of Photography James Costello (Inale, Last Flight to Abuja and Black November), this production is highly anticipated by filmmakers all across Africa.
Shot entirely on location, Flower Girl is Michelle’s love letter to Lagos and will feature locations familiar to many as well as some exciting parts of the city never seen before in a film. This is one of the most ignorant thing I have ever heard just because they are nigerian doesn’t mean they should start talking like illiterates, don’t get me wrong I’m not saying nigerian are, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with talking educated especially if it makes sense for the movie, its located in a city.
FYI: I’m british and that is defiantly not a british accent.

Personally, I dont think there is anything such as British accent because it diluted… E.g. Each region or should I say county as a particular accent. Leeds accent different from Leicester and they are all BRITISH oo.. Imagine South East London accent is also different from North London.
But I wont lie, some forming in this video… but hmm I guess the typical or average urban lagosian forms an accent to an extent.. LOL.
so just because we wanna improve nollywood now means we have to take away the authenticity that makes it undeniably african (Nigerian)

ermmmm!!! na wa o. if you have igbotic or yoruba accent na war, if not na fight. i tire, olu jacobs and joke silva both dont talk with african accent and yet no1 crucifies them, infact they are respected. me i dont have african accent too. sooooo??? i love the teaser thou, cant wait
hmm…I want to see this film because for once a Naija film will actually have Naija scenery other than the interior of a house..and while the accent may vex me….that is how many young Nigerians speak, although a Naija/Pidgin accent would have made the ‘no..no..no..where are you going?” part funnier…
I’ll skip commenting on the many accents and say, I think 2013 is going to be a great year for Dami Adegbite, Naija movie makers don’t do many of our young budding talents justice, always talking bankable this, bankable that! So thanks to Michelle Bello for this. Can’t wait!
I’m not sure that’s British accent. Most people mistake trying to speak clear English as feigning the British accent. They are trying to speak English the way it is meant to be spoken without all our bad habits. For our movies to get the world wide recognition we seek, they need to speak clearly so people of other nationalities will understand what they are saying. British accent is one of the most difficult accents to copy. It is too diverse. People from Liverpool,don’t speak like people fromNewcastle or worst still like their mancunian neighbours. Cockney is almost impossible to copy by someone not raised around London and the South. And trust me Cockney is not good English. So please let us not criticise the way they are speaking but appreciate their talents and efforts. And @ made, you don’t need to swear to make a point. Isn’t that the way of the Brits too?

normally i’d pass on romantic films, especially nollywood romance but this looks ok. people talking about accents, leave Eku alone biko. when regina askia and barabara soky used to form nobody disturbed them. the accents forging is annoying but if you can act and not sound retarded (mercy johnson, oge okoye, omotola, tonto dikeh are guilty of sounding stupid when they form accents) then it’s good.

Cant wait to watch this will be at the cinema, on valentines day, plus tat was a short teaser, btw Eku Edewor and that guy cleary have an, accent that doesnt seem forged to me, they probably didnt have thier formative years in Nigeria, so hence the accent, so please guyz, just drop it already.
