BN Bytes: Alexandra Nwokedi shows her Fierce & Dark Side! Check out her “Survival in Darkness” Photo Shoot by Yomi Black

Now, this is a different side of Alexandra Nwokedi, we didn’t see coming.

Since emerging winner of Face of Sleek Nigeria 2011, we are fond of seeing the 25 year old Nigerian model all smiles and girly at red carpet events, on the runway and at magazine photo shoots. Today, Alexandra proves she definitely has a much darker side – that is in a recent photo shoot.

Themed “Survival in Darkness”, the shoot for a UK based publication, shot by celebrity photographer, Yomi Black, sees Alexandra, who is rocking her signature hairstyle, flaunting different personas including a militant and wait for it, a vampire – all dressed in a black ensemble.

Check it out!

Abeg free the babe! Guns don’t kill people, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE!!! Me thinks this is hawt! :*

    • Missy December 18, 2012 at 7:32 pm

PEOPLE WITH GUNS KILL PEOPLE!!!!!!! I think “don’t mention” is right. This is so uncalled for. We need to stop bringing all the negative things from the western world. Why don’t we emulate the good?

    • Seriously December 18, 2012 at 10:03 pm

Shey you are someone’s pikin. Hopefully, you will be someone’s parent one day. Especially at a time like this, you are saying free the babe. Insensitive goat. Ode aiye raiye. Okponu, mumu oshi. If you were a parent of one of those kids, you will say that abi. How some people can be so thoughtless and stupid, I don’t know. Guns don’t kill, people do. You must be drunk on the NRA’s Kool-Aid. Guns are designed to kill people. Repeat after me. Guns are designed to kill people. Thats their ultimate aim, that’s the reason why they were manufactured. Idiot Oshi.

oh my goodness….seriously, seriously u got me cracking up while telling dat goat de whole gist of the matter…no minam, abi people kill people. did he use his hands to kill de kids? abi was it not the gun? people use weapons to kill people is what u shud hav said ‘somebody’s pikin’ nonsense. thank God for the likes of ‘seriously’ who get it.

  • Hold up! December 18, 2012 at 9:20 pm

@Somebody’s Pikin and everyone else who shares the same opinion, maybe you might have a rethink and rephrase after this: What you think is “hawt” is the idea that a young, pretty lady holding a gun while striking a pose will hurt nobody is not true. I will explain why: Newtown (a city in the US) is reeling from what is being described as one of the worst senseless killings in US history. 27 people were killed by a 2o year old man (with Asperger syndrome) who went on a shooting rampage. He went to an elementary school and killed 20 chilldren,. The kids were of ages 6-7. He also killed the principal and some teachers. Those kids were killed at close range with each kid having at least 3 bullets in them. The kind of guns used were assault weapons something like what the model is holding above. The reality is whenever we portray guns or violence as cool, hip, fashionable, etc anything but dangerous, the message being sent out is exactly that. When the photograper/artistic/creative director of this shoot decided to include guns in this shoot he or she whether intentionally or not is giving the idea that guns are hawt. Afterall, you thought so too. So will the next girl and the next girl and the next. However, what we fail to realize is that not everyone has the cognitive ability to separate art from reality. We all have a social and moral responsibility to ensure that we don’t send out distorted messages. Some traumatized kid out there will hear it loud and clear and who knows what he or she will do with it? Nobody wants another Columbine in their neighbourhood. Even the gun enthusiasts who have said what you are saying have a hard time justifying this after Fridays incident. I am not criticizing you but we all should be careful what we endorse.

    • Anonymous December 18, 2012 at 9:50 pm

@ Hold Up! Very well said! I could not have articulated your points better! In these sensitive times, we should all be very careful and thoughtful about what we endorse and promote in the society.

    • Missy December 18, 2012 at 10:14 pm

Thank you!!!!!!!! Well said. Can’t add anything to that

    • Demmy December 19, 2012 at 1:20 am

      You are solo right! X

  • jade December 18, 2012 at 9:44 pm

@holdup point of correction. Weaponry has been in existence since the beginning of time. They have been used to protect and to provide. Weaponry or the showcase of same has also been in existence as well. should we therefore put blame on the imagery for the cause of violence that is raging in our society. People kill people, plain and simple. There motives are vast and non-related. There is more than that that comes into play when we make mention of the 26 people that died at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The complexity of that situation should not even be mentioned here. Varying factors that still have investigators baffled cannot be summed up in ‘guns are hawt’. I am sorry, i personally do not like the shoot because i thinks it looks tacky, but to say that it may influence children into thinking that guns are cool is kinda mild to me for a good enoug reason.

  • Ada beke December 18, 2012 at 9:49 pm

Ooh. I love you Bella naija, but this is poor editorial judgement. The post could have waited. Too soon to be glorifying guns in art. Not too late to take it down before it ruins the effort of what seems to be a creative photographer. Err on the side of censorship on matters like this sometimes guys. Xx

  • nene December 18, 2012 at 9:50 pm

this is just weird. and not creative.

  • Seriously December 18, 2012 at 10:05 pm

You don’t see people, killing other people with their bare hands do they. Sheybi it is people that kill people, not guns. Stupidity of the highest order. Go and sit down and think of your life. Go and look at the pictures of those beautiful children, and think about your sorry ass cushy life. It could be you one day, it could be someone you love. We live in a crazy world, we never know in this life.

  • Ms. Jayee December 18, 2012 at 10:17 pm

Are u guys dumb!? Do u think that they came up with the concept, hair, makeup n styling after d Sandy Hook Massacre?! Mscheeew! These pictures were probably done weeks ago. Although I am not blown away by it, I will give it an E for Effort

  • Tunmi December 19, 2012 at 6:22 am

I must be missing something. Where is the gun in the photos?

  • Tunmi December 19, 2012 at 6:23 am

It’s about survival in darkness, being strong despite of adversity, no matter what life throws at you…somehow finding the courage to stand and face it all..-sigh-

  • Ms. Jayee December 19, 2012 at 6:59 am

And Bella removed the gun photos….

  • divadaz December 19, 2012 at 10:44 am

    scentric…uncommon like the usual….i give her 80%

  • Aibee December 19, 2012 at 11:13 am

Apparently, BN took off the gun pictures before I got here. So I have just one question – where in all these pictures did you read, see, understand, learn, deciher anything about “survival in darkness, being strong despite of adversity, no matter what life throws at you…somehow finding the courage to stand and face it all” [Hi, Tunmi, I took the quote from your comment, thanks].
If you didn’t see the Theme of the shoot in BN’s headline or prose, what will you think this photo shoot is all about?

  • director December 19, 2012 at 1:56 pm

where are the gun pictures? my friend sent me those pictures only for me to come here and they are gone……anywayz, for those yapping – do we stop making movies that portray reality simply because we want to cover the truth or protect our young ones? the answer is no we can only protect them by showing and telling them the truth, also by making them understand the difference between good and evil. most of thoes shootings were as a result of mental illness. parents were too scared to admitt that their children had issues even when the evidence was starring them right in the face. i am not in support of legalising guns and even if guns are taken away from the entire world, we humans will still find a way of massacring oursleves…………that said, BN pls i would love this lady to audition for a major role in our next movie, how do i get in contact with her asap? thank you.
