It was a glamorous night on Sunday 2nd December 2012 at the Imo Concord Hotel, Owerri where the Grand Finale of the 2nd Edition of the “National Heritage Awards & Miss Heritage Nigeria Beauty Pageant” was held.
Declaring the event open, the Commissioner for Culture & Tourism in Imo State, Ugochi Nnanna Okoro said the state government decided to partner and support the National Heritage Project “for its cultural intentions and particularly to encourage the youth with good ideas that can impact positive potentials on the larger youths of our society“.
In her address, the CEO of Caires Grooming Agency & founder of National Heritage Awards and Miss Heritage Nigeria, Chinor Emeka, thanked the dignitaries that graced the occasion while assuring Nigerians that “the National Heritage Project was specifically conceptualized to ensure that our cultural heritage does not go into extinction”. Uloma Okorocha, daughter of the Executive Governor of Imo State received the “National Heritage Mothers Award” given to her mother.
Among the 2012 National Heritage Awardees were Sen. Chris N.D Anyanwu, Sen. S.N Anyanwu, Hon Uche Nwosu (Hon Commissioner for Lands Imo State), Rt. Hon Ude Okochukwu (Speaker Abia State House of Assembly), Frank Osodi (Renowned Nigerian Fashion Designer), Rev Prof Marcel Onyeocha and some other distinguished individuals.
The well attended event had other cultural attractions ranging from the native Heritage Carpet, to the Omenimo Cultural Dance troops. The climax of the event was the crowning of the 2012 Miss Heritage Nigeria Queen which was won by 22 year-old Onabu Obehioya Lilian who represented Delta State.
The cultural-oriented Awards and Beauty Pageant is organized by Caires Grooming Agency, a non-governmental events production and personal grooming organization.
If you missed all the fun and excitement at the event, never mind BN has got all the photos.
Enjoy!

New Yam Festival meets pageantry!
Your wickedness no get part 3
Lol……oh! That made my day…..high-larious……
Encouragement ni won need
You shd go in for comedy….
I can’t breathe; I am laughing so hard!!!
hahahaha I cant stop laughing
Wtf, who say s$@t like that…..Lmfao
The girls are absolutely stunning! All of them. The stage and interior decor did not do them justice, and the target audience ?nuns and priests….!
Pageantry showcasing our culture, me likey! More of this in Nigeria and not those ones showing every part of a lady’s body. With time this will improve and we would strive to maintain our culture along side foreign ones.
The outgoing queen is so beautiful!!!! Cute girls
lol @ new yam festival.
na wa oooo i still have hope.
hahaha
*yawn*
Meanwhile, why is the presenter dressed like a masquerade?
PLEASE STOP lying these girls are not cute- they look average very average, someone has to tell the truth, stop having beauty pageants when the contestants are not beautiful. Like really naija has so many beauty contest but none of the beautiful girls actually show up! All i see is a bunch of 4′s,5′s and 6′s on a scale of 1-10. That Atta-Sheriff wedding had everyday women that are easily more beautiful than the contestants up there.
beautiful girls dont engage in such.
Not over the top girls…..can we ever have another Agbani and Oluchi?…Miss Abuja, seriously? There are way more prettier girls litter around the street…Kudos anyway…
Nkiru. S looks stunning
God ble has new yam festival
LOL at the people
LOL at the outfits
LOL at the event
-_____-
Ladies dont you understand the meaning of cultural heritage? Its is not a contienatal pageant where you show off your body, u don’t expect the hall to be decorated in English fabric when is talking about culture. I advice we support and appricate. The effort this organization is doing. And also becos is a cultual related event, is meant for all Nigerians, short, tall, average, slim, fat. They are not going for Miss world..lol so stop hating and simply say congrats and well done. I send my shout out to the organizers, well done.
If those girls are average or 1-5 on a scale of ten then the rest of you lot are decimals and fractions. The girls are pretty abeg.
Now the event in question…matter of taste. Are you “local” or are you a pretentious snot
You may like it or laugh at it.The picture quality leaves much to be desired.
I happen to be a gentleMAN stopping by to see our beautiful women in naija but truth is these ladies are average. I don’t know maybe ur scale is broken but these chicks are regular very regular. Also about all MBGN contestants after agbani were average as well. Naija shouldn’t have beauty pageants if there isn’t beautiful contestants or winners. I would not like to think that naija babes are average but its either that or beauty contest are run like businesses for profit, because i just don’t see beautiful chicks in almost every naija beauty pageant. shame really
LMAO @ scale being broken
@ truth and company….y’all must be surrounded by 5’10 and up girls like this who are
pretty. Where I come from (i.e. the real world) girls like this are not 4 or 5 on the scale of 10. If this event was glammed up and the girls were subject to proper lighting and so forth sheeple like you will be shouting and hyping unneccesarily. LMAO 4 on d scale of 10.
Owerri tins….
Guess you cant control yourself with the snide comments you always make whenever a post is put up about a certain tribe you know you hate. Why dont you post pictures of the “tins” from your tribe or even your state? Easy with the hate. It will surely take you nowhere.
What part of “Owerri tinz” is hateful. U guys and d “H” word sef!!! Don’t hold on to every word and take it personal, else u would land in hospital with <3 (heart) attack.
People’s club of Nigeria eeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhh
what is this? y r they deceiving these young ladies? ive seen hotter tomato hawkers in lagos state! mchew
@truth most times is not about beauty. Aslong as she is presentable and able to showcase and potray what she is required to, then she is gud to go. Learn to see beyond beauty.
@truth. Is not all about beauty. Learn to look beyound it. So the galsthat are not so beautiful shuld be discouraged? No. They shuldnt. Besides each pageantry know exactly the kind of gals the are looking out for,and next time read. Well before you comment.
Village chic…almost….
Beautiful People
Local league..take an event outside Abuja or Lagos and this is what you get!
@ Ms. Jayee . Yam festial meets pagentry, lolz…. U shuld be a comedian but at the same time understand the essence of this event before you comment. Is all about revive our culture, our heritage so dat ur future children won’t be lost..lol

Well i think i prefer the first runner up, she’s beautiful, elegant and smart. And she’s got this charisma that is stunning. Thumbs up, cynthia. U are the queen i know, shikina!
Grow up critics!!
For cryn out loud dis a cultural pageant and the only innigeria dfor dat matter!! Y can’t we appreciate good tins for once and give it d support it needs! @onyi check out the madian edition on related post Bellanaija. Is all abt culture, the idea is moving it from one state to another. Time will cum when u will apprecaite. It. I guess u don’t even know ur culture..lol
This Event was trending all over O-town, the brains behind this evnet is totally brilliant, a Heritage & culturally related Beauty Pageant, it shud be very well applauded & support by every Nigerian citizen, More Grease 2 your eLbows Team Heritage Nigeria. Bravo!
These girls are lot finer than the MBGN contestants from last year. And the outgoing queen, my opinion oh, is in the ranks of Agbani and co. She’s really gorgeous
@ O.T I agree with you. @yinkus pinkus why the lol. Which planebt are you from? Is ur glass bot allowing u see well. Is all abt cultureso fron their hair do to their dinner dresses has to be african. Appreciate ur country nigeria.it is not an event were you wear brazillian hair and. English dinner dress. They r showing are showing casing our cultural diversity, nigeria, our Nation, Our pride. Thumbs up organizers.
African people never appreciate their own culture. Instead of encouraging the effort, they are laughing and writing wicked comments. If you do not fight to preserve your unique heritage, it will erased by the so called “western culture”. Must it always be about brazilian weave, $500 pair of shoes or showing naked bodies etc….? There is definitely a lot to improve. But as an African woman, I am glad to know that such an event that promotes and celebrates the national culture exists. Learn to love your culture.
Dont waste your time wid them sis,na confusion dey melt brain.
The same afropeans dey go shop 4london an yankee dey find bushmeat chop.
This is actually a unique pageant, one of its kind….I must commend the Brian’s behind this…it’s show cases our thing, all the player haters wants to see naked girls with a borrowed cultural dresses,I must say Weldon’s heritage crew…keep up the good works…I see you guys go places..
Whoeva says d event isn’t gud shud go and take a sit inside d butt of a car, thumbs up team heritage.
Congratulation to heR
For all of you who dont like your culture, dont worry,im staging a nice oyinbo style show, complete wid 50 cossy clones.
The theme is show your market, and plastic feeding bottles.
Bonus points for korrect bleaching.Face and hand same colour.
Maybe you will be happy with that, until the show, please leave the fine girls
alone joor, they are enjoying themselves and representing nijah.
of course all u loud mouths cos u dont have fake girls looking expensive when maybe dia parents live in the village or brazillian weave wearing girls una dey make noise……its promoting culture so the more local girls the berra….
