Patience Jonathan BellaNaijaWhile Nigerians are still in shock over the N2billion that was approved for the construction of a home for the Vice President, Namadi Sambo last year, news has filtered in that N4billion has been earmarked for the the construction of a mission house for the First Lady, Patience Jonathan.

According to Punch, the Senate has expressed concerns over the amount which was listed in the 2013 Budget of the Federal Capital Territory. It also queried the expenditure of N7.5billion for the management of  the city as well as the spending of N150million for the renovation of the Guest House of the Vice President in Asokoro, Abuja.

It considered for second reading on Thursday the budget of the FCTA totaling N253.199billion, of which N48.034billion is for personnel cost; N49.504billion is for overhead, while the balance of N155.66billion is for capital projects for the service of the FCT.

Personally, I think its time to go beg the British to come back and rule us… cause if we are still confused after 50 years… I don’t think anything will change

Seriously? Why do we keep going round circles? Why can’t our leaders just act intelligently just for once? Only once

Misplaced priorities!!! We can shout, we can scream, we can kick but guess what? These idiots we put in power do not give a SHIT!

When the head starts to rot, the entire body follows suit. The same government that supposedly condemns corruption over and over again is the same government that drafts such a ridiculous budget. The amount of money spent on renovating houses for officials demonstrates the insensitivity of President Jonathan’s government. In a country where there quality education is not free, where medical services are substandard, where ‘money talks’ is the order of the day, where some people cannot afford 3 square meals a day, where homelessness remains an issue, the government deem it proper to propose such nonsense.
Nigeria needs a revolution but we have come to a stage where we cannot look at those at the top to help us, so it is up to us, the common man and woman to rise up and take a stand against corruption. But the problem lies here. How many Nigerians are actually bold enough to stand up against corruption. My people, we too must change our own attitudes to begin a wave of change in the country. As for Mr President, I do hope that the people of Nigeria are one day brave enough to vote that EVIL, public finance looting party, PDP out of power.

      • peye February 1, 2013 at 1:00 AM

You know y we can’t talk? Many of us have the same attitude but we do not yet have the opportunity to express it. Like leader like follower. We need to start from the family and what children are taught value as important.

        • Shao February 1, 2013 at 6:19 AM

Lol my thoughts for a long time now…….. You both are so right. The government is the mirror of a society. Most of us have the same mentality. You give power to a Nigerian what his relatives and friends would be saying next is…”it’s our turn to chop.”

    • bfy January 31, 2013 at 11:07 PM

This country of ours will sink one day with all the misappropriate use of money… Wow..dont want to sound mean but she is sick flying in and out of Germany so when will she able to live in the so called house…. We r finshed!

    • Aragon January 31, 2013 at 11:14 PM

This is the FCT’s budget, not that of the presidency-as if they are not the same in bribery and corruption. The irony however, is Bala Mohammed – the FCT chairmen, was in the news the other day telling us that corruption is Nigeria’s major problem.

This country called Nigeria can NEVER NEVR0NEVEr make any progress under de leadership of de Mafia currently misruling us bcos they are only there to loot. What have they done about de imfamous Benin Ore road dat consumes de lives of Nigerians on daily basis? Is de First Lady not staying with her husband now? If so, whu waste our N4billion for a gold plated house for her while millions of young able bodied Nigerians are roaming de streets with no jobs. Givr me those N4billion, I will create jobs for thousands of youths who are now forced into crimes bcos they have no jobs to take care of themselfs & their immediate families

    • Obi February 1, 2013 at 4:39 AM

We can condemn corruption without calling for oppression. Asking for a return of the so called good days of British colonialism is really no way to address an issue such as this. I have my thoughts on this story, perhaps too coarse to post, but I believe we can condemn & criticize without calling for the return of a problem we have long put behind us. Let’s deal with our current problem; this joke included. O by the way, had Mr President and Mr Vice decided to construct their buildings from their salaries, they would be no different from the millions of billionaires that erect edifices from their private pockets. But when national budgets are concerned, better not to arouse suspicion than to try to rationalize actions.

One of the major reasons for excess inflation in Nigeria…that 4 billion is deeper than it seems

    • isaid!! February 1, 2013 at 11:37 AM

N4billion will definitely build a second niger bridge at Onitsha-Asaba and ease the sufferings of thousands of easterners on that axis whenever they travel back home.I can imagine what N4Billion can equally change in other parts of this country. Incredible!!
