Nigerian billionaire and business mogul, Aliko Dangote has rewarded the Super Eagles of Nigeria with the sum of N130 million for reaching the finals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in South Africa.
The President/Chief Executive of Dangote Group made the offer after the Super Eagles reached the finals of AFCON 2013 by defeating the Malian national team 4-1 at the semi-finals.
A statement from Dangote Group made available to The Nation explained that the gesture is part of Dangote Group’s corporate social responsibility to promote and encourage sports development in Nigeria. The donation is to acknowledge the exploits of the national team at the AFCON and stimulate them to bring home the coveted trophy.
Sports minister Bolaji Abudllahi speaking on the donation said: “Dangote has always demonstrated commitment to Government and people of Nigeria. We are happy over the gesture shown to the players and the coaching crew. It is an example for other well-meaning Nigerians to follow.”

Good for them!!! Go Super Eagkes, take that cup home.
Nice one!
Has he ever rewarded students based on their acheievements? Why give d super eagles so much money when they’re actually getting paid to do their job. Its time so-called “Well meaning Nigerians” learn to channel their money to the right use.
It is their money and they can do with it as they please.
SHUT UP. Have you ever bought a 2B pencil for your gatemans kid???
Thank you Gwen.
LMAO!!! Gwen, you’ve killed me oh!!! 2B pencil sha! LOL!
YEA, RIGHT USE WOULD BE TO CHANNEL IT TO YOU FOR BEING AN EXCELLENT TROLL! THEY ARE SO ENCOURAGED BECAUSE THEY POTRAY NIGERIA IN A GOOD LIGHT INTERNATIONALLY! THAT’S WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT – maybe you should go and get FULLY baked in a university so that hopefully, you may broaden your horizon*
Well said, education should encouraged in nigeria…so young nigerians can be ginjah-ed to learn and study
meany thanks to him 4 de suport, but we stil need something more dan dat 4rm him, 4rm another side 4rm him. God bless him.
Gbam!!! well said spice,i totally agree wit u. some of these so called wealthy Nigerians reason with their feet, why give the so called super eagles so much when they are being paid for doing their job and also wen u have people out there who need this cash so badly. mtchewwwwwwwwww…………………………..long hissssssssssssssss
At the end of the day, its his money and he can spend it how he likes. Also, if he had chosen to give these people that really need the money, someone would still come up with why he wasn’t doing the right thing.
You sef become a billionaire and spend your money how you please. Simple
It is his money. He can do what he likes with it. If you are a student, continue to wait for a rich man to reward you for studying. Talk about feeling entitled. Did he not send relief to flood victims. Have we forgotten so soon?
1st of all, do you know all the charity work that this man does? Do you know how many students he sponsors in school? Is it because there is no announcement, that younow assume? Is he not just 1 man, why turn him into the Saviour of the masses!
Playing for SE, isnt a job, they dont get a salary for it.
Its Dangote’s money, he can do whatever he wants with it. Nigerians sef. How many people on here give beggars alms daily? Now compare that to the money you may give to a relative or friend who asks, why do you give them, when more than likely the beggar needs the money more than they do.
you dont get paid for playing for the national team, you get allowances, its a selfless act and not a 9-5. He rewards education not by giving you money for graduating but by employing you if you graduate with a good class of degree. Like he’s rewarding the Super eagles because they Triumphed. see?
and anyways, its not all of y’alls bloody money so STFU!
@ spice, you are a real knucklehead. please be well informed before you open your mouth to talk nonsense. if you knew a quarter of the donations the dangote Foundation and Aliko does personally, yoou would beg for forgiveness. start with yourself first. give your all of your next months’ salary to charity FIRST , then come back here and lets have a convo ..
I just hope that the Super Eagles will actually receive this money cos those guys at the top (e.g. the Sports Minister) are very skilled at making money disappear.
” Nigerian billionaire and business mogul, Aliko Dangote has rewarded the Super Eagles of Nigeria with the sum of N130 million for reaching the finals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in South Africa. “. So,Mr.Aliko nothing for us the great and steadfast Super Eagles Supporters/Fans at all ?,it is not good ooo.Aliko you for just try give the rest millions of poor Nigerian populations wey be there suppoters/fans any how, well i hope the Super Eagle players will atleast donate 1% of their earning from this trophy to NEPA/PHCN to make sure we ( The poor Nigerian who always support then, though always watching the matches with power generator that cost them a fortune to buy fuel at 120 per litre ) have atleast 4hrs light on daily basis for supporting them than eating all alone and will ask us to support them
