It’s a brand new week! Hope yours is going well so far.
Social Media Week Lagos kicks off today. I am so excited about it because in the almost 7 years (yes, it’s been that long!) since I founded BellaNaija, I have seen social media grow exponentially across Africa. In Nigeria, I am happy whenever I meet enterprising Nigerians who have been inspired by the BellaNaija story. Also, no one can deny the indelible impact that social media has had on our businesses and lives here in Nigeria.
These are just a few of the topics that will be discussed and explored during “An Evening with Leaders” at Social Media Week Lagos 2013. I am really honoured to be on the panel alongside Former Nigerian President and founder of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation – Olusegun Obasanjo, founder of Africa 2.0 – Mamadou Toure and CEO of Sahara Energy Group/Country Chair of Africa 2.0 - Tonye Cole.
I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully will get to meet our BN family there. I hope you already registered because I hear the session is fully booked at this point.

…but lets be truthful Uche Pedro has this wonderful platform, but 90% of the time, it is used to showcase wealth (mostly ill gotten). So I don’t know which development of Africa Madam Toure is talking about!
Listen to thyself thou hater………..
well stated.
I assume you are talking about the wedding section, dude that’s even less than 10% , abi na which kain math you so??
General news?? the relationships section, inspiration section? Atoke’s morning banter? Music videos? Movie trailers? Chude’s leadership series?? yeye celebrities that “release” photos?? Numerous “red carpets?? That cook guy that does recipes?? BN celebrity interviews?? I could go on…please which ill gotten wealth is Atoke and others showcasing oooo?? Please vent your frustration about the state of things in Naija properly & via the appropriate channel….

Uche, thank you for representing a new generation of Nigerians/Africans who thrive against all odds and channel their creativity towards telling a new story of Africa. We at WWN, represent one of the millions of Nigerians, at home and in the diaspora, who’ve been inspired by the remarkable story of Bella Naija. The impact of social media across our continent has only just begun…to other upcoming entrepreneurs, we say: ‘DO.NOT.GIVE.UP! Take another step today, against all odds and success will be yours soon!’

Hi,
I keep ‘hearing’ (reading) this phrase “The event will be streamed live”…but nobody mentions where they are going to be streamed from.
I have sent an email to the organizers and (in the typical Nigerian fashion), they ignored my email.
Can someone here assist me?
Wow.. Finally the wheat is being separated from the …..
Congrats Uche, This is definitely where you belong, where only the eagles soar….. I respect your focus and what the BN brand stands for…..

Hmmm, she’s finally coming out of her shell, hurray! I was surprised this article was posted by you, Uche.
Uche, you’re one enigmatic lady! Who convinced you to take this challenge? Hmmm, I see; hubby at work. Thanks Oga for this motivating your wife to the next level. Those who have been longing to see and hear you speak will be delighted at this opportunity.
Well done Uche!
Congrats Uche. For anyone who thinks your blog is only to show off wealth and affluence, I guess its the only thing they ever look out for on your website. What happened to the many amazing articles and stories of remarkable people, places and events that focuses on the human race. I guess with people, its hard to acknowledge success once its not theirs. Many of us are more than proud of what you’ve done.
Well Said Nike! Urban is obviously an illiterate who can not look beyond what urban chooses to see!
Great news, Uche, keep moving!
Super proud to work beside you Uche. You’re an amazing inspiration and a delightful person. Good job Mrs P

Proud of you Uche….one of the ladies I admire!!…
Congratulations Uche. You did change the face of blogging in Nigeria. I particularly love the fact that you focus more on Nigeian and African News, with little or no violence, x-rated topics and bad language. you are indeed an inspiration.
I first stumbled on your website while surfing the Internet and have stayed hooked ever since.
That you Ms. Pedro stayed behind the scene makes you even more likable in my opinion.
@ urban… Please read through BN’s inspiration section. All those other blogging sites posting people who bought cars, do you know how those money came about?
I beg to differ. Uche Pedro AKA BellaNaija.com is well balanced, articulate, assertive, humble, loves her country , very patriotic, honoured by Oprah Winfrey, even The Social Media event…………
Please be fair in your assertion.
Congrats Uche…Happy for u. U deserve this and more to come.
congrats uche!!!!! you go girl!!!
Haters – take a sit & keep hating while she soars and soars. mtchiewww. mumu people. you cant achieve yet you would applaud those that have. nonsense!
Abeg uche, keep the flag flying. I celebrate you girrrlll. the great celebrate the great. lol
Coming out of her shell? If my my memory serves me well, Uche spoke sometime last year at the oil and gas conference in Abuja, can’t remember the topic though. Kudos again, Uche! U r a huge inspiration, an icon who’s not always in ur face like thr rest of our celebs. May God continue to bless and empower u to inspire us some more.
Shame on u for saying Bella Naija potrays only the weathly, the wealthy are also part of the society, they are to inspire others. Not everyone makes me thru the right way and its up to everyone of us to discern and learn from the right source. If this platform was not here, where would you write this your unthought off comment?, lets learn to support others and critisize positively or even negatively in a mature manner…God bless Africa!
