Steroids reportedly found in Oscar Pistorius’s Home | Speculation That He Might Have Killed Girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in “Steroid Rage”

Investigations into the death of Reeva Steenkamp, the girlfriend of South African athlete Oscar Pistorius have revealed that steroids were found in his home where the unfortunate incident occured on Thursday 14th February 2013.

South African police are investigating whether Steenkamp’s murder could be connected to the use of performance-boosting steroids. City Press reports that the Police have asked for blood taken from Pistorius to be tested for steroids, in anticipation that his defence team might claim he acted in “roid rage” – an aggressive condition associated with taking large doses of performance-enhancing drugs.

Also, a bloodied cricket bat which was found at the scene has become the central piece of evidence in the unfolding murder investigation. City Press revealed that police are investigating different scenarios involving the bat – one of which is that her boyfriend, Pistorius, used it to viciously assault her. The police are also investigating two more possibilities: that Steenkamp may have used the bat in self-defence, or that Pistorius used it to break down the toilet door behind which Steenkamp was hiding from him.

The Police have also dismissed the theory that Pistorius mistook Steenkamp for a burglar. She was in her nightgown at the time of the incident, indicating she had been in the house long before the shots were fired. Also, neighbours claimed they heard argument coming from his home earlier in the evening. She was shot in the head, hand, hip and arm, and her skull was reportedly fractured.

A source told City Press, “The suspicion is that the first shot, in the bedroom, hit her in the hip. She then ran and locked herself in the toilet. She was doubled over because of the pain. He fired three more shots. She probably covered her head, which is why the bullet also went through her hand.”

Pistorius called his father soon after 3.20am on Thursday and asked him to come to the house. When the family arrived, Pistorius was allegedly carrying Steenkamp down the stairs, her head and arms “dangling”.

“Steenkamp was still breathing and Pistorius tried to resuscitate her in the foyer,” the report continued. “Paramedics and police arrived on the scene and, minutes later, she was declared dead.”

City Press has published a colour graphic of what it believes unfolded at Pistorius’s home. It shows a male character, purported to be Pistorius, pointing a gun at her.

It has also emerged that sportswear brand Nike, one of the athlete’s main sponsors, has no plans to use Pistorius in future ad campaigns.

He will appear in court again today and if the court finds him guilty and sentences him to life imprisonment, he will only be able to apply for parole after 25 years, when he will be 51.
