BN Exclusive: First Photos & Scoop from the “Iyanya vs Desire” Album Launch in Lagos

On Saturday 2nd March 2013, Nigerian music star Iyanya launched his sophomore album “Iyanya vs Desire” at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The star studded affair was hosted by Nollywood actor/politician Richard Mofe-Damijo and on-air-sensation Toolz. Toolz dazzled in a long sleeve black-and-red dress by Liam Fashion Agency and accessorized with a statement gold neck piece while her co-host wore a black blazer, pink shirt, jeans and black shoes.
Celebrities including Ajebutter22, AY Makun, Tomi Odunsi, Tunde Ednut, Banky W, Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi and DJ Xclusive were spotted at the event.
Inside the album launch, the star of the night Iyanya hit the stage in a pink button-up shirt, black waist coat, pants and shoes. His masterful vocal performances and wardrobe changes was followed closely by his famous waist winding techniques to everyone’s excitement. Other stars who performed on Saturday evening include Wizkid, Seyi Shay, May D and Vector.
One of the most memorable performances was Iyanya and Tiwa Savage’s rendition of the Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey‘s classic track, One Sweet Day. Tiwa who stepped on stage in a brown spaghetti strap T by Alexander Wang dress and Christian Louboutin heels, together with Iyanya belted out the soulful track as a tribute to pop star Goldie. Sorry but Toolz is a terrible event host. She just stood there morose with nothing to say while RMD stole the show. I was so disappointed. It’s not all about wearing a pretty dress and showing off a banging body. If you’re meant to host, just do it. She obviously needs to stick to radio or small events. My 2kobo
Tiwa was just shouting her voice over inyana’s own! Gees! that was too dominating for two people supposed to be performing together. Not cool at all, and certainly unpofessional

Its obvious iyanya hasn’t trained his voice in a while, i guess singing all the gbam gbam jigi cracks your voice a little. Same goes for tiwa bcos they didn’t do so well on the vocals. Doesn’t take away from the fact that it was a lovely tribute and very heartfelt.
I completely agree, a great effort but they sound strained, Tiwa especially. Having said that, it must have just been only that day for Iyanya, because if you heard him sing them love songs at Banky’s album launch ehn, DAMN, it was lovely!

Toolz is stunning and so is Tiwa, but Tiwa’s vocals are quite mediocre…she shouts toooooooo much, I saw her live once and boi does she scream down the mic, and I don’t mean that in a good way
