African Environmental Action Summit - BellaNaija - June2013

It’s time to care for the environment. Over the years mankind has exploited the environment and even now like a maiden in distress, the land is in search of heroes.

Next weekend, some individuals who care about the environment will converge in Lagos to express their love for  a greener and cleaner environment and chart a course to exploring Africa’s natural resources for sustainable development. Organised by The Green Afrique Network, the African Environmental Action Summit (AEAS) will feature a Green lecture, a lunch and a dinner. Some of the speakers that will be present include green activists like Dr Newton Jibunoh and Desmond Majekodumi, Ibrahim Dikko (Director Regulatory and Government, Etisalat)  Gbenga Ashiru (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Pastor Paul Adefarasin (Pastor of House on the Rock) and Dr Adeleke ( DG Nigerian Conservation Foundation). Others are Publisher of The Guardian Mrs Maiden Ibru, the 1st Lady of Ogun State, 1st Lady of Sierra Leone and The Vice President of Liberia.

With the clear understanding that the future belongs to the youth, the organizers have also made room for the participation of young people via the “iRave Nigeria- TAN Ultra Violet RAVE!” Featuring Nigeria’s ‘hottest Dj’s’ including- DJ Neptune, DJ Humility, DJ Spinall and DJ Caise. The expectation is that all participants will begin to carry a torch for the environment and protect it dearly. Caring for the environment is critical! The time for AFRICAN Environmental ACTION is Now!

Social media platforms will be used to promote the event with the hashtag – #GoGreenAEAS as well as giving the youth the opportunity to win tickets to the iRaveNigeria Party which has the hashtag – #iRaveNigeria.
