In recent times, going off to America or the UK to have babies has become very popular in Nigeria. People cite a varied range of reasons for it and one thing that is predominant in their justification is the very bad healthcare system. The rate of maternal mortality is unbelievably high, especially the age we live in. Dying during child birth isn’t something we should still be dealing with in 2013.

Sadly, this problem isn’t limited to Nigeria. Across sub-saharan Africa, this is a problem that’s crippling the region. This subject was discussed on Aljazeera‘s “South2North” with Redi Thlabi.
