Celebrities Walk Against Cancer | View Photos of Karen, Kaylah, Sheyi Shay, Skales, Dotun and more

Lagos, September 7th, 2013: As part of efforts to increase awareness about cancer and help reduce the rate of deaths caused by the disease in the country, Nokia, Sahara Group and a host of top Nigerian celebrities collaborated with Exquisite Magazine to organize the 2013 edition of the Exquisite Magazine Against Cancer (EMAC) walk in Lagos.

The EMAC Walk established in 2006 is a one-day walk aimed at educating Nigerians about cervical, breast and prostate cancer; highlight the importance of early detection and treatment and provide free screening for Nigerians which has helped in detecting people with early stage of cervical cancer.

Speaking on the free screening exercise, Editor-in-Chief, Exquisite Magazine, Tewa Onasanya, said the special screening session will kick off on Friday the 13th of September at Optimal Cancer Care foundation on 118 Bode Thomas Street Surulere. Free screening is also available in Surulere EVERY FRIDAY. Throughout the month of September, women can go to the clinics below to be screened for free; Woliboy Faith Foundation, 3 Spencer, road, Alagomeji, yaba George Kerry Life Foundation; 1a Unity road, off Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja.”

Nokia West Africa General Manager, Mr Christopher Brown speaking at the event commended the organizers for the initiative. He noted that initiatives like this will help organizations make positive impact in the lives of Nigerians and give people the opportunity to live and achieve their dreams. “For Nokia, this is great way for us to contribute to the society in which we operate and reach out not only to our customers but every Nigerian”.
