When the credits started rolling at the end of Thor: The Dark World 2, you definitely have that feeling that what you just saw was definitely worth your time. My only prayer now is that Marvel will not run some people broke with the number of movies they throw out yearly. From the Easter egg revealed in the mid credit scenes (calm down people, no spoilers here) Thor 2 will most likely lead to the ‘Guardians of Galaxy’ movie. My point is, they need to stop turning these things into some sort of seasonal movies. Even ‘Agents Of Shield’ will now be linked to Thor 2 somehow.

Let’s get on with the movie review.

The Synopsis
Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. The Script

A round of applause to the brains behind this lovely piece. I couldn’t have loved it any better. I didn’t particularly like Thor 1 so much. Though we understand he was on his path to self-discovery, but nevertheless, I felt it could have been better. Thor 2 is a balanced mix of humor and emotions. You may be laughing out loud this minute and mourning the next. Some jokes were overdone though. Half the jokes from Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls) didn’t get to me, but our dear villain Loki totally stole the show. I don’t think we have ever loved a villain more. The best thing about this story was the last fight scene which was very different. In a good way of course. Lots of acts I didn’t see coming. I was caught unawares a couple of times. I love it when movies make me dumbfounded.

The Directing
You all should have seen me jumping cars and flying over trains and sky scrapers just to get to see it in 3D. Thank God my god-like powers didn’t help me meet up with that schedule at the movies. There was nothing to see in 3D in my opinion. It was just perfect in plain ol’ 2D. The CGI was pretty impressive. Some few parts were cartoony though. An example is the rocky fella in the ‘Game of thrones kinda world’ in the beginning.

Director Alan Taylor definitely brought in some elements of surprise which his most popular job, (Game of Thrones) is known for. Some scenarios stuck to me. Much like the funeral scene. (Spoiler alert. My bad…well not really) The beauty was really compelling. Just a glimpse of how it’s done in Asgard. A nice way of putting our imaginations to work.

I also loved the fact that they gave us more than a glimpse of Asgard in this movie. It’s like they took polls from viewers and asked what they wanted to see more of and worked on that little bit of information. Thanks Alan.

The Acting
Loki, Loki, Loki. I just loved every scene this dude was in. He was simply phenomenal. The backbone of the humor of it all. Tom Hiddleston is one face I’d like to see more on the big screen. He’s sort of stolen my heart with his talent.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (even his real name carries a lot of weight) was a shivering act to watch as Kurse. He seemed even way ‘badder‘ than Malaketh – The Leader of the Dark Elves played by Christopher Eccleston.

Malaketh definitely lacked a lot of teletubies in his childhood. Absolutely no joy. Though people complained about him not being bad enough, but if you can create that Kurse creature alone, then I doff my hat to you.

Chris Hemsworth was great. A lot better than in Thor 1. He was more godlike and intelligent here. I must say, that man can definitely take a beating. Even the Mjolnir had its share.

Then there was Darcy Lewis played by Kat Dennings. She was funnier than she was in the prequel but over did it a little bit in some scenes. We didn’t get to see much of the Warriors Three and Lady Sif, and in their place we had a lot more of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and Heimdall (Idris Elba) who did give lovely performances.

Last but not the least was Rene Russo who showed us that there’s more to Queen Frigga than silky embroidered dresses and flowered-braided hair. Being an Asgardian queen sure ain’t just about looking pretty.

The Verdict
Need I say more about our judgement? With all my purring I’m pretty sure you would’ve guessed my verdict right. It’s a Soda and Popcorn from us folks.

I loved this better than Ironman 3. (I’ll forever hate what they did to the Mandarin), 10 times less destruction than Man Of Steel (at least not on Earth) and Wolverine’s claws will melt at the sight of Mjolnir.
