Please where have you even reached that you are talking about what got you there? #JustSaying

  • Troll January 13, 2014 at 10:16 am

No, she climbed the ladder with the help of her surname..*rollseyes

  • Nneks January 13, 2014 at 10:40 am

I love these two….they would be my favourite naija couple if they get together…Dear Eku I love you but you need to bury this issue…

  • Vanessa January 13, 2014 at 10:44 am

It doesn’t matter how you climbed the ladder. What matters is that there was a climbing. Don’t sit at the first rung, get to the top. BTW, I got here by sleeping with Aliko Dangote.

  • Sexxie January 13, 2014 at 10:45 am

I think I’m missing something here…please what’s with the Edewor name sef? A brief history will be appreciated. Thanks.
Eku should please give it a rest already! Good thing is, she’s successful.

    • Anon January 13, 2014 at 12:18 pm

One of the biggest names in old Bendel, now Delta.

  • ijeoma January 13, 2014 at 10:45 am

This is like when white people deny their white privilege. It’s disgusting.

And if this is what “rubbing minds” means in Nigeria then We have a problem.

    • Proud village woman January 13, 2014 at 7:28 pm

      Make it plain sister!

  • missy J January 13, 2014 at 10:46 am

  • www.anemistyle.com January 13, 2014 at 11:15 am

Many things got her where she is, her great WORK ETHIC, her family name, money, her biracial light skin. There many biracial pretty girls with RICH families in Nigeria but not all of them have been as successful, she must be hardworking and have a good work ethic.

    • www.LapesBeautifulCreature.com January 13, 2014 at 6:49 pm

well said. She did not waste the opportunities that came her way. Thats what is most important

    • iba January 13, 2014 at 9:47 pm

      well spoken
      well spoken well spoken.

  • Maria January 13, 2014 at 11:25 am

  • JWEZEE January 13, 2014 at 11:41 am

way to go EKU,HARD WORK and Determination got her there, cant even be mad..and EBUKA be feeling like piers morgan not a fan…

  • charliexavier January 13, 2014 at 11:52 am

Eku dear, think it’s time to hush…… Nothung wrong with a lil help from daddy or mummy, Lord knows in my own small pond my parents influence have opened several doors for me. It’s one thing to get that door open and it’s another to walk through it and stay behind it. So obviously you been able to walk through the door (that takes courage) and stI’ll be relevant (that’s hard work). So if been light skinned helped your career, bless God, thank God for it, if you have influential parents thank God! Long n short whatever people saw or heard to open that door for you…..Thank God!

    • Nanciejul January 13, 2014 at 1:39 pm

God bless you for this comment. Eku should give it arest already, its like she wants to prove a point. Besides who cares!

    • Iris January 13, 2014 at 2:58 pm

That’s it exactly. Exactly! I’m sure she worked for it, but if all it took was hard work a lot more people in Nigeria would be successful. There’s no shame in admitting what has opened a door for you as long as you’ve earned the rest of it. All over the world a little connection helps. Plus there’s the fact that if she was 7 kinds of ugly it is unlikely she’d have made TV. Did she work for her beauty too or did that not come as a natural gift?

    • Nessa January 13, 2014 at 7:36 pm

Thank you and well said! And she is the only one pushing this issue at the moment. Eku we don hear, moving along.

  • Titi January 13, 2014 at 12:14 pm

Got her here being where? What is it that she does that is so relevant? Please someone shed some light as I’m curious………..

  • keeps it real January 13, 2014 at 12:17 pm

Ok. Am a big fan of Eku but all this her recent talk is starting to tire me. Beware my dear, you may just loose some fans. Just keep doing your thing cuz that is why I liked you in the first place. Do not make the mistake many other celebrities make with too much unnecessary talk. Let your actions speak for you. Have a happy 2014. Peace out.

  • Swagu January 13, 2014 at 12:29 pm

Well for starters Eku. Maybe if you had actually stuck to your real surname ” Thorley”. We wont be having this argument. You knew answering your mother’s maiden surname Edewor will give you that preferential boost in the Nigerian entertainment industry. So please enjoy the doors it has opened for you and give it a rest. Thank You. Now you have invited the likes of Cuppy Otedola and co into the mix. Rich kids not content with being silent. They want fame badly now…. Ok oh

    • trufactoid January 13, 2014 at 12:53 pm

Jesu… OMG ain’t that the freaking truth. THORLEY huh?

    • imsexyandiknowit January 13, 2014 at 12:56 pm

you get me blad! the babe should be thorley (her fathers name) not edewor (her mumsys name)..funny thing is in england she was known as thorley…she moved to naija and added the edewor cos she knew the doors it would open…the babe is trying to play a fast one…smh!

      • Idak January 13, 2014 at 1:07 pm

When she goes back to the UK, she will revert to Thorley. For now make she dey use Edewor.
All hustle na hustle. Ko easy!!

    • Rick January 13, 2014 at 1:11 pm

Her first name is actually even Georgina. She was “Georgina Thorley” in England, that was the name she used on Britain’s Next Top Model. She came to Nigeria and switched to “Eku Edewor,” which is fine, but she needs to drop the attempts to convince us she was some sort of random success story. Especially as she’s not that good at her job to begin with. Just roll with it and go.

      • *Real* Nice Anon January 13, 2014 at 4:01 pm

Oh yeah? I had no clue. Interesting stuff.

    • corolla January 13, 2014 at 2:03 pm

So because they are rich kids they shouldn’t pursue their dreams?

    • Energybill January 13, 2014 at 2:28 pm

Thank you o. She could have stuck with ‘Georgina Thorley’ when she came back from England and lets see how many doors that would have opened!

      • idoublecrossmyheart January 13, 2014 at 5:59 pm

The only door “Georgina Thorley” might open is working as a secretary at the BRITISH COUNCIL or something.

Homegirl should be QUIET. She does not have TALENT except MODEL. And these days even cat fit pose under proper lighting and better camera.

She should be grateful that her MOTHER’S name and her skin tone opened doors for her. Success story? Which success story? The poor woman who sells akara to send her children to school, THAT IS A SUCCESS STORY. Living off NIGERIA’S WEALTH is NOT A SUCCESS STORY.

If Eku is claiming that it is hardwork, why didnt that hardwork PAY OFF FOR HER SISTER who is stuck in England? Abi, twins no dey think alike again? Identical twins no ni?

Be grateful for your blessings, acknowledge your privilege so that you will be grateful for your blessings. The Nigerian public is not the gullible. GREEDY yes, GULLIBLE, please give us some credit.

Dolapo Oni presented BETTER than Eku or is it Georgina….but I suspect she was constantly overshadowed by Eku’s brightness in our stupid Nigeria society that she decided to make a better career move.

There is NO CHARM in Eku’s presenting skills. No personality. Nothing. So which hard work? Even the acting is….well…let us just say there is no Oscar nod for that role.

But at least she is in Nigeria….trying to “better” Nigeria. I use better so vaguely.

  • http://www.karosstoryblog.blogspot.com January 13, 2014 at 12:46 pm

You go girl. Hard work truly pays. Family name alone cannot get you to the top so I believe you.

    • idoublecrossmyheart January 13, 2014 at 6:03 pm

In Nigeria IT DOES. In fact, it can give you more opportunities if you are ILLITERATE. Nigeria is a country where if mosquito is Obasanjo’s first cousin, it will get preferential treatment.

      • falalala January 14, 2014 at 6:39 am

        ha yes!!!!

  • yostic January 13, 2014 at 12:47 pm

      My exact thought.

  • Idak January 13, 2014 at 1:22 pm

I actually thought this Rubbin’ Minds was designed to be a slightly more serious program?
These frivolous and banal topics are a waste of Ebuka’s genuine talent.

    • Nanciejul January 13, 2014 at 1:42 pm

      What talent?????

      • imsexyandiknowit January 13, 2014 at 1:51 pm

      • Idak January 13, 2014 at 2:25 pm

seriously, the lad is an intelligent guy and very aware of happenings in his environment. In addition, he has a very inquisitive mind.
I was expecting a program that will tackle relevant issues and ask the sort of questions young people are asking and explore the views of same.
Instead I see an exceedingly vain program where their celebrity friends come around to talk the same crap we hear on tabloids and gossip blogs. Who really cares whether Eku or Georgina earned her perks or not?

      • SugarSugar January 13, 2014 at 4:33 pm

LOOOOL Gbam! Cant really stand him. I cant watch the rubbin minds show, he’s trying to shine as much as the interviewees

      • ms lala January 13, 2014 at 5:55 pm

lwkmd….Ebuka schooled in DC American University and trust me ……smh he tries tooooooooooooo hard IDAK….said it in the comment posted under yours..i don’t know whose worse Ebuka or Noble Igwe….

    • Nanciejul January 13, 2014 at 3:54 pm

@Idak your reply said it all, this is where talent comes into place.

      • falalala January 14, 2014 at 6:41 am

Ebuka went to University of Abuja for undergrad then AU long after BBN

    • iba January 13, 2014 at 10:12 pm

Unfortunately i dont think Ebuka really has what it takes in the world of TV and presentation. Ive seen a few episodes of rubbing minds and all i can say is ”blah” ITS JUST THERE. No sparks no real presence nothing flies off at me. I liked him on big brother though and i think he is a pretty face on the red carpets!

      • Idak January 14, 2014 at 9:51 am

He might not be a good presenter but he is certainly more than a fine face. My opinion.

  • Amh January 13, 2014 at 1:42 pm

So this albino girl go and sit down jot, which name, are you from abiola, obasanjo or babangida or adenuga s family. Nobody knows your family sin which one is useless talk deceiving yourself. How successful are you that you feel important . You wasn’t to compare yourself to cuppy otedola or what. Get lost and continue with your struggle. Who cares if you are afin the albino or not.gerrout with your white mentality. Is mo abudu fair skinned or genny or louche or nike osiinnowo. Go and sit down, wannabe.

    • ms lala January 13, 2014 at 6:03 pm

I died on your comment…uh huh gurl why evils ….hehhe the funny thing is that dolapo oni and her were stars on a show and the light was poured more on eku than ms oni….now both girls come from well off family …the Edewors…hmmmm are like old money that is’nt rich anymore just in the name because her granddad shooked places back in the days…take it from someone whose from Delta state…THE MAN WAS A BUSINESS MAN SHAAAAAA made investments and made money..but eku shud chill be thankful that’s she’s blessed…there are lots of biracial kids that are born into poor homes and are BROKE…..

  • JIK BUYER January 13, 2014 at 1:57 pm

for some time now I have been seeing this random yellow chick hopping from website to website shouting about how she got to where she is using her talent. my question is: WHO IS THIS YELLOW CHICK AND WILL SHE CHANGE THE PRICE OF JIK????

  • silvabubbles January 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm

  • Swagu January 13, 2014 at 2:08 pm

I miss Dolapo Oni on 53 extra tho…. That lady can present for days… Anyway more deeper topics on EbonyLife TV. So i have switched. @Rick … She knows she wasnt some random success story. She should keep deceiving herself….

  • Joan85 January 13, 2014 at 2:14 pm

The fact that she even has to emphasize and defend that she earned her place in the industry…well, what do I know. They say certain things in life just speak for themselves. :) Still love Eku though…

  • oyoyo January 13, 2014 at 2:21 pm

    n***a please lol

  • Chum chum January 13, 2014 at 2:26 pm

    wetin she for talk before.

  • AYaB January 13, 2014 at 2:59 pm

but una dey do research sha! How did y’All get to know she is Georgina Thorley? lol!

  • Emy January 13, 2014 at 3:32 pm

Give Nigerians chance they will gladly fall your career for you. FBI’s in the building! Thorley n Eku? Issorai

    • Rick January 13, 2014 at 7:05 pm

No research needed. When she first appeared on the Nigerian social scene a couple of years ago, BellaNaija and other blogs used to tag the photos as “Georgina Thorley”. Many people began to know her as a fashionista/socialite, then the name change happened. The rest is history.

  • nollare January 13, 2014 at 3:39 pm

Abeg Eku go and rest jare. We are bored already and be careful before you become the next Toke Makinwa. You better keep quiet as u have in the past coz the public will eat raw in a heartbeat. And yes your beauty got you to where you are. You are not that talented but you will make a great print model or runway model (in Naija of course and according to naija standards)No offence but nobody knows your family. I have never heard of an Edewor before so must not be that relevant jare.

  • jcsgrl January 13, 2014 at 4:08 pm

This girl sef…now she’s beginning to annoy me

  • Great Portland Street January 13, 2014 at 4:10 pm

Kai bella naija peops una go kill person lol. Georgina ke . Nawaoo una don research sharp sharp.

  • African Man January 13, 2014 at 4:35 pm

This girl should go and sit down somewhere and put a sock in it. First it was about her skin colour, now it’s about some family influence. If you believe it’s all through hard work, why don’t you attain the same level of your perceived success in a predominantly white country and then yan. Babe, get over yourself, and as a public personality learn to ignore ‘talk’.

  • sizle January 13, 2014 at 4:51 pm

  • nene January 13, 2014 at 4:57 pm

nne, biko u didn’t earn anything. r looks and family name got yo to where yo are. yo are not even a good presenter or actress, and yo studied theater arts. be happy for what you have.

  • Megzy January 13, 2014 at 4:59 pm

    Please who is she?

  • nene January 13, 2014 at 4:59 pm

she should have stayed back in england, then if she makes it there, i’ll know she has actual talent. in nigeria there are few rich, mixed race girls, so she’s “hot cake”. she’s good as a model, but her presenting and acting are nothing to write home about.

  • Vicky January 13, 2014 at 5:04 pm

Really enjoying the comments, keep it coming.Eku Geogina Thorley Edewor, pls keep quiet before people start digging for dirt on you.

  • dobz January 13, 2014 at 7:18 pm

Edewor was an old school rich warri man. Who still has properties in delta. But had many wives and kids. His “empire” isn’t thriving as much. And not all his kids and grandkids are rich or beautiful

  • The Buttery Hotness. January 13, 2014 at 7:53 pm

Aunty Eku, I gbadun your publicity strategy o.

Tell the people my background didn’t get me here, blah blah blah. The people get confused and start to ask, what background does she speak of? Then they begin to google and talk about me in the comment sections of the blogs, in their offices, salons, and wherever 2 or 3 people are gathered.

    You evil genius, you.

  • Another Controversy Plot January 13, 2014 at 10:20 pm

she’s taking cue from Toke. Bring controversy into the media, people jump on it, blogs keep talking about you and boom, you become more “famous”. it’s working. 80 comments and counting on a post about her…

  • Olive January 13, 2014 at 10:37 pm

Oh my goodness she should shut up already. If her looks and lastname did not get her up there, she does not need to prove it to anyone. But conducting press releases and interviews as a cathartic way to prove she did not climb up the ladder kind of depicts her as apologetic or defensive. If she actually ‘earned’ her work due to merit and qualified skills there is no need to prove it. Flaunt it! But we all know the truth. This debate needs to end.

  • labelle January 13, 2014 at 11:59 pm

  • Constructive crit January 15, 2014 at 12:16 am

My dear Eku,I really like you! But truth be told, when you started presenting you were not fantastic, but you have grown on the job, you are really good now but you are not a good actress, who knows you may also get better, also you and I know that your beauty, family name and accent made it a lot easier to climb the ladder of success in your carrer if you don’t belive me ask the following people. About the rejection, the struggle and how long it took them to get to the top, Funmi Iyanda, IK, frank edoho etc, they STRUGGLED!!! So my dear just count your blessings, thank God, thank your mum for her name and thank your mum’s friend Biola Alabi of Mnet
