BN Beauty: Top 10 Hair & Makeup Looks from the 2014 Grammys

You have sang the musical notes on Katy Perry‘s Valentino dress and you’re probably still trying to figure out what Pharell was thinking with that Rangers inspired hat {click here to see red carpet photos and winners list}. But now, BN Beauty‘s taking you into our favourite hair and makeup looks from the 2014 Grammys.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards took place yesterday, Sunday 26th January 2014 and as usual the stars came out to shine. Celebrities like Rita Ora ventured down a red lip-less path and we got some unusual bling from the Queen of Pop, Madonna.

Beauty

1. Amber Rose

Looking like a shimmery goddess, model and wife to Rapper, Wiz Khalifah, Amber Rose looked absolutely stunning. Amber went for a pretty face with nude lips for the awards night and even went as far as covering up her tattoos to complete her look.

We think she’s the only one that has rocked a platinum blonde buzz cut this good. She wore a figure flattering gold sequined Naeem Khan gown complete with diamond earrings.

2. Paris Hilton

Bonjour Paris! The Socialite looked every bit a bomb-shell at the 56th Grammys in a stunning white House of Milani dress.

Paris brought her face to life with bronzed cheeks, thick top & bottom lashes to complement her gorgeous blue eyes and a light pink lip. This is definitely one of our favourites.

3. Taylor Swift

Talk about star quality! Taylor Swift dropped her signature red lip & cat eyes and took on a more playful pink with a bluish-sliver eyeshadow to boot. We think this was a great fit with the Singer’s embellished neckline on her beautiful Gucci dress and diamond earrings.

When interviewed by Redbook on how she gets her signature look Taylor said, “I do the outer corner flick first: I follow the curve of my lower lash line and draw it on as if it’s an extension of that. Then I draw along my top lid and connect it to the flick.” We will surely be looking out for her returning to her red lip soon.

4. Holly Ridings

Former Models of the Runway contestant, Holly Ridings didn’t take the back seat at the awards in her extremely pretty make up look. Sporting a pink pout, Holly used her model instinct and gave her best sides in some fab poses. We absolutely love how youthful and pretty she looks.

5. Miranda Lambert

Hello Hollywood!

Country Singer Miranda Lambert gave a literal translation of Hollywood with her beautiful Maryln Monroe-esque makeup. Miranda complemented her gorgeous red dress with a red lip and flowing gold locks.

6. Rita Ora

Now this is a breath of fresh air! British Pop singer Rita Ora looked absolutely beautiful for the awards night. The singer switched from her signature red lipstick to some accentuated pastels. Rita had a pretty face with her blonde curly hair, a purple spin on the smokey eye and a very light pink lip in a Lanvin dress.

We are definitely adding her to our favourites list.

7. Tasha Cobbs

Gospel Singer, Tasha Cobbs looks so pretty.

Using a lip colour that wasn’t too popular on the awards night, Tasha rocked a plum lip with a slight smokey eye and falsies.

8. Kelly Osbourne

I don’t think Joan is going to have anything negative to say about this one!

Fashion Police judge Kelly Osbourne gave us the perfect definition of goth-pretty with her berry lip and thick false lashes.

9. Sarah Hyland

Now this is how to look grown up without it looking overdone.

Modern Family star, Sarah Hyland went for the bare necessities with a shimmery red lip and dark neutral eyes. We just love her eyebrows – thick and well defined.

10. Zendaya Coleman

Hey Disney fans, guess who it is?

Taking a step out of her role as Rocky in the Disney Channel original Shake It Up, Zendaya Coleman looks amazing with her chic-goth interpretation.

Hair

1. Alicia Keys

Leave it to Alicia Keys to make a Mohawk look so good! The R’n’B singer and wife to talented Producer/Rapper Swizz Beatz showed off her fun and retro Mohawk in black with pretty barely there makeup.

2. Katy Perry

Yup, that’s a very big hair bun!

Singer Katy Perry gave us her signature baby doll eyes with cute falsies, but added a can’t-go-unnoticed-from-space up-do that we are loving! With her hair sleeked back into a high bun, top hair stylist Renato Campora used Herbal Essence products to create one of the most flawless looks of the night.

When asked how he achieve her stellar look, Renato said,“First I sprayed her hair with the Herbal Essences Naked Sheer Shine Mist and then blew it out to a sleek, polished finish. Once her hair was dry, I pulled it into a tight, high ponytail. To add more volume and texture to the ponytail, I sprayed the Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo throughout the length of her hair.

Then I twisted the ponytail and wrapped it around the base of her hair to create the crown. I secured the crown with bobby pins and misted the hair with the Herbal Essences Naked Flexible Hold Spritzer to polish her look and set her style in place.”

Her makeup look was created by Jake Bailey using CoverGirl products.

3. Beyoncé

No, the list wouldn’t have been complete without Mrs. Carter.

After the hair-troversy Beyoncé stirred up in August when Bey put up a photo with her newly cut hair on Instagram, we couldn’t help but wonder what she would wear for performances etc. Even though Bey has been rocking a longer weave, Beyoncé opted for a curly faux bob for the Grammys conference appearance. She later turned that dry bob into a wet’n’wild number for her “Drunk In Love” performance with hubby Jay Z.

Her makeup look was created by Francesca Tolot.

4. Miguel

We know, but we couldn’t help it.

We think Miguel Montel Pimentel‘s curly hair is just so adorable and that has earned him a spot on our beauty list.

5. Paris Hilton

Paris definitely made us want messy hair with her messy up-do. Her stylist made a great call by taking her hair up to accentuate her face and give her beautiful bejeweled neckline room to shine.

6. Colbie Caillat

It was all business in the front but party at the back with Bubbly Singer Colbie Caillat‘s up-do.

Rocking minimal makeup, Colbie took it all up with a pretty braided detail at the back.

7. Ciara

“I aint got time for that gurl, I pregnant”.

Mum-to-be Ciara hit the Grammys in a stunning Emilio Pucci dress that gave some glitter to her baby bump. Now a lot of you may be wondering what she is doing on this list, but we actually like her look. It looks very relaxing, laid back plus her pregnant glow is giving her extra points.

8. Chrissy Tiegen

Model Chrissy Teigen went for a soft and sultry look with her light makeup and wavy hair. We especially love random barely-there braided detail like the one she is rocking here.

9.  Zendaya Coleman

We have to talk about  Zendaya Coleman‘s sleek hair. We love how simple yet chic it looked and it gave all the attention to her goth-chic makeup and beautiful sheer blouse.

10. Kelly Osbourne

This slot has been reserved for the fabulousity that is Kelly Osbourne‘s hair.

Rocking her signature purple bob, Kelly managed to prove once again that, no matter the hair colour, if you wear it well, it will serve you well.

You Be The Judge

Now that we have got that our of the way, we have created a special little segment we have dubbed You Be The Judge. This is where we present some of the celebrities that we couldn’t quite place and you tell us what you think. On this list we have the Queen of Pop Madonna in her Ralph Lauren ensemble, Cara Quici, Tamar Braxton and Bonnie McKee.

Madonna

Madonna made her red carpet entrance with a little something extra – grills. Now, we weren’t expecting a dress but do you think the mouth jewelry was a bit too much or is it just typical Madonna?

Cara Quici

Talk about being blown away.

Singer/Songwriter Cara Quici sported an up-do for her Grammy red carpet look and as much as we love the dress, we cant take our eyes off her hair. But hey, they do say she is fun loving. So what do you think? Too big or fun-sized?

Tamar Braxton

 

R’n’B singer Tamar Braxton looked fab in her red gown snuggled next to her hubby Vincent Herbert. However we were expecting a bit more with her hair and makeup. What did you think?

Bonnie Mckee

Bonnie McKee said yes to her signature look once again. The sexy American singer sported her fiery red ombré hair sleeked back, which she had dyed for a while now, with a titanium blue Gustave Cadille gown. What do you think? Should she have switched it up with a different colour or is red perfect?
