Julius Agwu Speaks on Dropping out of Politics: I Want to Concentrate on my Career

When ace comedian Julius Agwu first announced his desire to run for a Governorship position in the upcoming 2015 elections, a lot of people did not see it coming (click here if you missed it). However, few weeks after announcing his intentions to become the Governor of Rivers State Julius Agwu was reported to have dropped out of the political race (click here if you missed it).
At the time, his management team stated that he dropped out because of his friendship with the present Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
Julius Agwu is now speaking directly about his decision and in a chat with Punch, he states that “the reason is that I really want to concentrate on my career. I think I am going to forget about politics for now and focus on my career”.
Julius Agwu has been in the entertainment industry in Nigeria for decades and he is known as an author, comedian, singer, actor, compere and more.
He added, “My people have asked me to drop my ambition because of a zoning arrangement within the PDP to produce the next governor of Rivers State from the riverine tribes.”
