More than 4,000 members of the PDP in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Sunday defected to the APC.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new members were received into the APC fold in Isa by Gov. Aliyu Wamakko.

Wamakko, who was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Arzika Tureta, commended them for their action.

“APC is the party to beat across Nigeria during the 2015 general elections,” he said.

Wamakko then promised the party’s new entrants of equal and fair treatment with the older members of the party.

The governor said APC was out to salvage Nigeria and expressed optimism that it would win the 2015 general elections at all levels.

The party’s Acting State Chairman, Alhaji Usman Danmadamin-Isa, commended Wamakko for evenly transforming the state from 2007 to date.

“More people will soon join the APC and we will collectively work to ensure the success of the party at all levels during the forthcoming general polls,” he said.

Speaking also, Alhaji Umar Wali, the Caretaker Chairman of the local government, said the decamped members were drawn from the 10 electoral wards of the local government area.

A spokesman of the decamped members, Alhaji Umar Suleiman, said their action was spurred by the tremendous achievements of Wamakko from 2007 to date.
