Buhari Appoints Amina Bala Zakari as Acting Chairman of INEC

Following former INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega‘s departure from office, President Muhammadu Buhari has named Amina Bala Zakari as acting chairman of INEC.
Zakari is the first female to occupy the position, albeit in an acting capacity, Punch reports.
Her appointment resumed on June 30, 2015 and will continue until the appointment of a substantive chairman.
Zakari was a National Electoral Commissioner at INEC.
