On Monday, I mentioned that I was going to announce a giveaway for people who like to write and I’m glad it’s finally here. {Click here if you missed Atoke’s Monday Morning Banter this week}

I am a strong believer that one cannot be a writer if one isn’t a reader. I love reading, wide and diverse and We Need New Names was my favourite book in 2014. It has all the elements a great book should have and I believe every writer should own and read a copy.

I’ve teamed up with my favourite radio girl, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi to give Creative Writers a chance to win a goody bag which contains a pair of Gbemisoke shoes, a copy of NoViolet Bulawayo’s We Need New Names, and perfume oil from Body Shop. I swear by Body Shop products.

So what do you have to do to get this gift?
Write something creative, no more than 150 words with the first sentence being “He looked in the bag and saw a pair of green Gbemisoke shoes”. Special detail should be given to sentence structure, grammar, syntax and most importantly – creativity. Please don’t write “am going…” That would just kill all the writing fairies. 🙁 It’s “I’m”

Submit your entries in the comments section, with your name and email address. (No aliases – as we’ll need this for verification when it’s time to pick up the prize)

Submission of entries is open until the 5th of August 2015. So you can keep this page bookmarked to submit your entries. Cool?

The two most creative short stories will be picked and announced on Atoke’s Monday Morning Banter on the 10th of August 2015.

**This competition is only open to people who can pick up the prizes in Lagos! Staff of BellaNaija.com are exempt from this competition.

Have fun!

A huge thanks to everyone who participated in this competition. The competition is hereby closed. Two winners will be picked and announced on Atoke’s Monday Morning Banter scheduled for 10th August 2015.

Peace, love & carrot batons!
